Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company, providing a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries, to make life and our environment safer, healthier and more sustainable. From the food you eat, to the water you drink, to the medicines you rely on, Eurofins laboratories work with the biggest companies in the world to ensure the products they supply are safe, their ingredients are authentic, and labelling is accurate.
Eurofins is dedicated to delivering testing services that contribute to the health and safety of society and the planet, and to its corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across the entire network of Eurofins companies.
In a nutshell
We are looking for an Infrastructure Solutions Architect to provide architecture leadership for cloud hosting capabilities, with a primary focus on AWS and strong, practical knowledge of Azure. The role ensures that infrastructure designs for new and existing initiatives align with Eurofins policies, security requirements, and established design patterns defined at enterprise level by the Global Architecture Office.
This position covers the full lifecycle: requirements gathering (functional and non-functional), solution design, architecture approval, transition to operations, and Business-as-Usual (BAU) support. The architect actively participates in incident/problem management and is expected to join the out-of-hours manager pool for major incidents.
You will join an Infrastructure Support Crew and collaborate closely with other experienced Infrastructure Architects to ensure consistency and quality across designs and initiatives.
The team operates within enterprise architecture governance and follows direction, standards, and policies defined by the Eurofins Architecture Office.
Key Focus Areas
- Architecture/design authority (~95%) with limited hands-on engineering (~5%)
- Design approver: validate that application/infrastructure designs comply with Eurofins policies and approved patterns
- Influence AWS landing zone architecture including segmentation and connectivity patterns (standardised hub-and-spoke)
- Enable and support deployment, hosting, maintenance, and management of solutions in AWS, aligned with enterprise identity hosted in Azure
- Kubernetes-enabled platforms: strong knowledge of Kubernetes from infrastructure and networking perspectives
- C4 model diagramming as the standard for architecture communication
- DevOps mindset required; Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) understanding is a plus
- Provide additional architecture support for enterprise networking across office sites (physical LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi) and cloud networking in AWS and Azure, including segmentation and hybrid connectivity.
Responsibilities
A) Architecture & Design Authority
- Lead infrastructure solution design for AWS-hosted workload
- Approve designs and ensure alignment with enterprise policies and reference architectures; collaborate with application architects to ensure end-to-end coherence
- Ensure designs incorporate identity and access integration with enterprise identity hosted in Azure (e.g., single sign-on/federation concepts)
- Create and maintain architecture artifacts using the C4 model and supporting HLD/LLD documentation
- Embed and enforce Zero Trust access concepts into infrastructure and platform designs by defining secure access patterns in coordination with Security
B) Kubernetes & Platform Architecture
- Design and govern Kubernetes-based hosting platforms and workloads, including cluster architecture, networking (ingress/egress), segmentation, and connectivity patterns
- Define operational requirements for Kubernetes environments: observability, upgrade strategy, capacity, resilience, and security baselines
C) BAU, Incident/Problem Management & Operational Excellence
- Participate actively in BAU operations, including major incident and problem management, driving root-cause analysis and follow-up improvements
- Join the out-of-hours manager pool for escalations and critical incidents, coordinating technical response and ensuring timely restoration
- Define and improve management frameworks for cloud services (monitoring, logging, backup, patching, lifecycle management, performance and reliability KPIs)
- Drive automation and standardisation to reduce repetitive operational work and improve service consistency
D) Governance, Documentation & Stakeholder Management
- Work as part of an Infrastructure Support Crew to apply and promote enterprise architecture standards and governance defined by the Eurofins Architecture Office.
- Engage stakeholders (primarily security-related solutions owners) to gather requirements, communicate trade-offs, and define roadmaps
- Maintain high-quality documentation: policies/procedures as applicable, architecture decisions, HLD/LLD, and operational runbooks
- Mentor and support technical teams
- Promote reusable patterns and consistent implementation approaches
- Coordinate with key vendors when needed to stay aligned with platform capabilities and best practices
- 5–10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering/operations and/or infrastructure architecture
- Strong experience designing and operating AWS environments, including networking, segmentation, and connectivity patterns
- Working knowledge of enterprise network architecture (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi), network security concepts, and hybrid connectivity between office sites and cloud environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of Azure, especially identity foundations and enterprise integration requirements
- Kubernetes knowledge is required (platform and networking aspects)
- Proven ability to produce clear architecture documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable using the C4 model for architecture diagrams
- Strong English communication skills
Nice-to-Have:
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and Terraform concepts (modules, state, lifecycle); hands-on coding not required
- Good understanding of DevOps practices for infrastructure delivery (version control, CI/CD principles, automated validation)
- Experience in security-sensitive or highly governed environments
- Familiarity with TOGAF (or a comparable enterprise architecture framework) and comfort applying a structured method to architecture decision-making, governance, and documentation.
- Relevant certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform)
What We Offer:
- Permanent position in a global, fast-growing organisation
- The opportunity to gain increased areas of responsibility and personal (career) development
- Challenges within a multi-cultural and cross-regional team as part of the international and fast-growing Eurofins organisation
- A dynamic working environment with a good team spirit where personal development and growth are encouraged
- Opportunity to work on security-related platforms and cloud foundations at enterprise scale
