Senior Backend Engineer (Java, Scala, K8s)

The Opportunity

We are looking forSenior Backend Engineers (Java) to build and operate the large-scale distributed systems behindAdobe Experience Cloud products such asAdobe Experience Platform,Adobe AnalyticsandAdobe Experience Manager.

You will work onhigh-throughput backend systems, real-time data pipelines, and cloud-native services running at global scale.

This role is ideal for engineers who would like to join Adobe's largest Engineering hub in EMEA and enjoysolving complex distributed systems problems, owning services end-to-end, and building reliable platforms that operate at global scale.

What You’ll Do

• Design and buildscalable backend services usingJava and JVM technologies

• Develophigh-performance APIs and microservices serving global customer traffic

• Build and operatedistributed systems and event-driven architectures

• Designreal-time and batch data processing pipelines using technologies such asKafka and Spark

• Develop with a strongproduct-first approach, while prioritizing quality, reliability, security, and performance.

• Collaborate multi-functionally with architects, product managers, data engineers, and site reliability engineers.

• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code efforts using tools like Terraform and manage CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration via Kubernetes.

• Monitor services with advanced observability tooling like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, and Datadog.

What You'll Bring:

• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience

• Strong expertise inJava and the JVM ecosystem

• Experience designing and operatingdistributed systems or microservices

• Hands-on experience withKafka or other event streaming technologies

• Experience buildinghigh-scale backend systems or data platforms

• Experience working withcloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Familiarity withcontainer orchestration (Kubernetes)

• Strong understanding ofsystem scalability, performance, and reliability

• Experience withobservability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.)
