International Road Engineer (On-site, Uzbekistan)

ESS (Environmental and Social Sustainability) is seeking an experienced International Road Engineer / Team Leader to join our team and support the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across emerging markets.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and oversight on large-scale road and bridge infrastructure assignments, ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with international engineering standards, contractual requirements, and lender expectations. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary consultancy working on complex, internationally financed infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams on road and bridge infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout project implementation, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Review engineering designs, contractor submissions, technical reports, and project documentation.
  • Administer FIDIC contracts, including claims management, variation orders, payment certificates, and contract administration.
  • Identify technical and contractual risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, lenders, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and project progress updates.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, contractual obligations, and lender requirements.
  • Support project planning, implementation, monitoring, and successful project delivery.
  • Mentor and guide technical team members while promoting best practices across projects.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's Degree is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum10 years of professional experience in road and transport infrastructure.
  • At least7 years supervising the construction or rehabilitation of highways, roads, and/or bridge infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience administeringFIDIC contracts, including claims management, variation orders, payment certification, and contract administration.
  • Experience working on projects financed by International Financial Institutions (IFIs), such as the World Bank, EBRD, ADB, EIB, or similar organisations.
  • Previous experience as aLender's Monitoring Advisor, Lender's Engineer, or Lender's Supervisor is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects in emerging markets is considered an advantage.
