Position Details

• Barista & Food Service
• Full Time, 40 hours per week
• Pay Rate:Based on Experience ($17.68 - $22.99)
• Availability Needed:Sunday-Saturday for variable shifts between 6am-10:30pm
• Shifts Assigned: 6am-2:30pm, 2pm-10:30pm

As a Barista you need to know how to

• Take orders for coffee, espresso and beverage offerings
• Operate cash register, handle cash from guest transactions in a careful and accurate manner and follow all cash handling procedures
• Ensure beverages maintain consistency and follows drink recipes for accuracy
• Keep work area clean at all times and ensure the customer service area is free of contaminants.
• Understand the necessary functions of operating & cleaning procedures such as opening and closing, quality assurance of all products, and maintenance of equipment and cleaning.

Essential Functions

• Delivers and presents trays to patients using the standard process.
• Maintains customer satisfaction, service, and identify problem resolutions independently, and escalating as necessary 
• Ensuring compliance with provincial or territorial food safety regulations 
• Knows menu, portion, and price prior to meal service to provide appropriate service to customers, including answering questions and serving food. 
• Performs food preparation functions according to system standards (following standard recipe, assembling ingredients) for example, prepares salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit.
• Understands modified diets and prepares modified recipes using appropriate techniques. 
• Follows standardized practices relating to Nutrition Services (e.g. dining experience, meal delivery, maintaining required stock levels)
• Maintains department area including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods).
• Performs accurate cash/credit transactions according to system standards and independently resolves basic customer service issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required)
• Basic computer skills (required)
• At least (6) months of Barista experience (preferred)
• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Related experience or training (preferred)
• At least six (6) months of retail experience (preferred)
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
• Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
• Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at espresso machine, ovens or in a refrigerator and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.

• Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing
• Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
• See and read computer monitors and documents.
• Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
• May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
