Senior Akamai Security Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilledSenior Akamai Security Engineer to join our team and provide specialized support in securing eCommerce platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Akamai CDN services with a focus on security solutions such as bot detection and mitigation, DDoS protection and application-layer security. You will collaborate closely with our cybersecurity, DevOps and eCommerce development teams to design, implement and maintain robust security postures across high-traffic digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Akamai security features particularly in Bot Manager, Web Application Protector and DDoS protection
• Configure and optimize Akamai CDN rules and security configurations to align with business and application needs
• Monitor and analyze security threats across the eCommerce landscape and develop mitigation strategies and incident response procedures
• Support ongoing improvements in bot detection, rate limiting and edge security policies and custom rule sets
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors to troubleshoot issues and implement best practices in edge security
• Provide documentation, training and knowledge transfer to internal teams as required
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevOps and eCommerce development teams to design and maintain robust security postures across high-traffic digital platforms

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working with Akamai CDN services including Bot Manager, Web Application Protector and DDoS protection
• Expertise in configuring and optimizing Akamai CDN rules and security configurations to align with business and application needs
• Skills in monitoring and analyzing security threats and developing mitigation strategies and incident response procedures
• Experience supporting bot detection, rate limiting and edge security policies including custom rule sets
• Background in liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors to troubleshoot issues and implement edge security best practices
• Capability to provide documentation, training and knowledge transfer to internal teams
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

• Akamai certification(s)
• Experience working in regulated industries or environments with PCI-DSS or GDPR compliance requirements
• Prior experience collaborating with application development, QA and DevOps teams
