The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and advancing Reily Foods Company's environmental, health, and safety initiatives across all manufacturing and distribution facilities. This role partners closely with plant leadership to develop, implement, and continuously improve programs that ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, promote employee well-being, and foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. The EHS Manager will drive company-wide initiatives focused on workplace safety, environmental compliance, incident prevention, employee engagement, and continuous improvement while supporting the company's operational and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across the company's manufacturing and distribution facilities, including Knoxville, TN; New Orleans, LA; LA and Malden, MA (travel required).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable standards.
  • Partner closely with Plant Managers and site leadership to cultivate a strong safety culture and environmental compliance mindset throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate EHS performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend proactive solutions to reduce workplace injuries, environmental impacts, and business risks.
  • Conduct facility audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning for workplace injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and regulatory concerns.
  • Manage workers' compensation, injury management, and return-to-work programs in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Serve as the primary company contact for regulatory agencies, inspections, environmental permits, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Oversee environmental programs related to waste management, air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage EHS systems, records, training platforms, and third-party vendors supporting safety and environmental programs.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers to ensure compliance and promote safe work practices.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, process changes, and facility improvements by evaluating EHS risks and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing incidents, improving compliance, and strengthening the overall employee safety experience.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and provide regular updates on EHS performance, compliance status, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Food and beverage manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, OHST, or equivalent are a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, workers' compensation, environmental permitting, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive EHS management systems.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain a Safety First culture in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk manufacturing facilities, climb stairs, enter production areas, and conduct facility inspections.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time or as business needs require.
