Engineering Manager
Location: 100% Remote – U.S.
Team Size: Approximately 15 Engineers
Compensation: $157K–$265K + 15–20% Bonus
About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a senior, cross-functional software engineering team of approximately 15 people supporting a large-scale, cloud-based financial platform.
This is not a purely administrative management role. We need a technically credible engineering leader who can lead and develop people while improving execution, architecture, reliability, scalability, and engineering maturity.
The organization has grown rapidly from a startup-style environment into an engineering team of approximately 75–80 people. The next phase is focused on scaling the platform, reducing technical debt, improving delivery, and introducing mature engineering practices without sacrificing speed or innovation.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of approximately 15 software engineers.
- Drive execution, accountability, planning, estimation, and predictable delivery.
- Partner closely with Product Management and Agile/Scrum leadership.
- Participate in architecture, system design, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Help address technical debt and improve platform reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Coach and develop senior engineers while building a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Help mature engineering processes without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
What We're Looking For:
- 2+ years of Engineering Management experience, ideally managing 10–20 engineers.
- Strong software engineering background with the technical depth to lead senior engineers.
- Experience with Kotlin, Java, or similar backend technologies.
- Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Cloud-based software development and deployment experience.
- Proven ability to improve engineering execution, delivery, architecture, and technical processes.
- Strong Agile/product development experience.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Experience with the exact technology stack is not required. We're more interested in a strong Engineering Manager with experience leading modern backend/distributed systems teams.
Financial services, fintech, insurance, or annuities experience is a plus but not required.
