- Automotive OEM'sPaint Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedPaint Materials Engineer.
- Reporting to the Production Engineering Paint Materials Manager, the person in this role will support the PE – Paint department'sobjective to be a global leader in new material development and move towards plant of the future initiatives to ensure flexibility and competitiveness.
- The primary responsibility of this Paint Materials Engineer is to evaluate andmanage new model color paint trials, new material technologies, and support current production initiatives to reduce material cost and improve material performance.
- Lead new color & material introductionsto all plants(body & resin paint)fromlab workability through online testing and production approval,including trial planning, quality evaluations, and direction setting recommendations –primary focus on paint & resin shops.
- Establish process controls and parameters (RJ)for new materials / technologies andgain one-voice among cross-functional teams
- Lead materials-related problem solving across multiple divisions; applying company methods to identify root-cause and countermeasures
- Support and assess CPU and Environmental impacts of new materials; quantify cost/benefit and lead decision-making with stakeholders
- Support all company Paint department Hoshin objectives.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineeringor equivalent work experience.
- Proficient summarizing data and creating charts in Excel, building presentations in PowerPoint.
- Experience leading multiple projects that required coordination with people outside your immediate team (other departments, vendors or external groups).
- Experienced in analyzing data to identify the true root cause of a problem in addition to implementing countermeasures.
- Experience creating and presenting reports to multiple levels of management.
- 1+ year evaluating color and appearance of painted surfaces.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods to support projects.
- Ability to travel (up to 30%) to support North American plants successfully.
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, etc.
- TBP completed through panel
- Served as SME or internal auditor for North American QR/QS/QH process
- Project experience within Paint Pilot function
- 1+ years of experience in paint lab doing workability evaluations
- Basic Japanese language skills
- Basic Spanish language skills
