Manager, Business Applications

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Manager, Business Applications, provides leadership for a defined portfolio of applications, overseeing a team, and managing vendors. This role ensures that all application-related projects, upgrades and enhancements within the portfolio are implemented in alignment with organizational standards and contribute to the organization’s operational and strategic goals. The Manager collaborates with other IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to enhance application functionality, reliability, and compliance.

Position Details

• Non-union - This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage and provide leadership to designated team members (including employees, contractors, and consultants) to deliver effective and efficient services.
• Manage and provide leadership in the design, requirements, development/configuration, quality assurance/testing, deployment, support activities, and ongoing program management for a portfolio of applications and inter-related systems. 
• Monitor and manage vendor performance and Service Level Agreements (SLA) as well as contractual obligations.
• Manage the development of the budget for the portfolio of applications. 
• Lead the development of a multi-year application plan to ensure that applications are effectively managed to maintain technical currency and meet organizational plans and objectives.
• Establish, cultivate, and nurture collaborative long-term relationships with key stakeholders that use the portfolio of applications and those who support the solution including vendors, external organizations and service providers.
• Develop and prepare business cases, information and decision items for senior leaders, and presentations to a diverse set of stakeholders.
• Identify and champion opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency within the application portfolio.
• Develop, document, and enforce best practices, operating procedures, quality control, and technical standards for application management.
• Stay informed about technology trends and advise on enhancements that benefit the organization.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Seven (7) years of experience in application support or management.
• Experience in project management and guiding implementing large technology solutions. PM certifications would be considered an asset.
• Proficiency in managing a diverse application landscape, including on-prem, SaaS, and hosted solutions.
• Experience in IT service management, leveraging frameworks such as ITIL.
• Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
• Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Information

• Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.

• A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
