As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients,families and visitors, from the moment they enter to the time they return home. You willassist them with everything from insurance eligibility and payments toself-screening competition and scheduling services. This role is a great steppingstonefor others within Customer Service and various departments withinCleveland Clinic.    Â

A caregiver in this position worksFull-time, M-F, 9:30am – 6:00pm.Â
Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â
Register, schedule and pre-register patients for inpatient,emergency and outpatient tests and procedures. Â
Educate patientsregarding their benefit levels, review eligibility, prepare estimates,advise patients of out-of-pocket expenses, collect payments, applypayments andmaintain security of payments.  Â
Completeaccurate face-to-face and phone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information. Â
Schedule services and provide the physician’s office and/or patient withaccurate date and time information, room availability, physician availability, typical time needed to complete the procedure and/or procedures that conflict with each other. Â
Complete questionnaires toassist departments withpreparing for patients. Â
Utilize the screening tool for self-pay patients todetermine anypossible payer source.Â
Refer patients to financial counselors. Â
Advisepatients of and generate Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) and/or Assumption of Financial Responsibility (AFR). Â
Obtain, scan and index physician orders. Â
Cross train tostaff all patientaccess areas. Â
Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â
HighSchoolDiploma or GEDÂ
One year of customer service work experience OR higher education and trainingÂ
Proficiency in data entryÂ
Knowledge of medical terminologyÂ
Excellent customer service skillsÂ
Â
Preferredqualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
One year of hospital,clerical or billing work experienceÂ
