Senior Mainframe Developer

We are looking for aSenior Mainframe Developer to support a large Wealth Management firm operating within a broker-dealer model. The position centers on Mainframe development for Retirement planning functionality, combining new development as the main focus with production support duties.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver new Mainframe development initiatives supporting Retirement planning functionality
• Provide production support to ensure the stability and reliability of Mainframe applications
• Diagnose and resolve common Job Abends in the Mainframe environment quickly
• Troubleshoot complex production issues by applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a Scrum-based delivery model
• Utilize Problem Management tools such as ServiceNow to track and resolve incidents
• Work with Mainframe Job Schedulers to manage and monitor batch processes
• Partner with business stakeholders in the Financial Services domain to deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Mainframe development
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and DB2
• Expertise in VSAM and IBM MQ
• Capability to quickly resolve common Job Abends in Mainframe
• Showcase of strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with IT Service Management practices
• Hands-on background in Problem Management tools, preferably ServiceNow
• Background in working with Mainframe Job Schedulers
• Understanding of the Financial Services domain
• Skills in operating within a Scrum environment
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CICS, Assembler, and IDMS/IMS development or support
• Familiarity with debugging tools including EXPEDITOR, ABENDAID, TELON, and FileAid
• Qualifications in ISPW, Topaz, or Compuware
• ITIL certification, together with exposure to Atlassian Jira and Scaled Agile Framework
• Background in the Wealth Management domain
