SAP S/4HANA FI Consultant

We are looking for an experiencedSAP S/4HANA FI Consultant with deep expertise in both Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) and SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) to join the EPAM Invoicing and Revenue Management project, a strategic SAP S/4HANA transformation integrating contract data, fulfillment, revenue calculation, revenue recognition, billing, accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and exception management.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement revenue recognition in S/4HANA using both Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) and SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR/FI-RA), select the appropriate approach per revenue stream
• Support the Explore-phase decision on which revenue streams are covered by EBRR versus RAR, document rationale, integration needs, and limitations of each
• Translate approved business requirements for revenue calculation and recognition into EBRR and/or RAR configuration aligned with the target contract and account model
• Ensure in-scope revenue transactions follow one automated recognition process per stream, with manual intervention limited to defined approvals and exception handling
• Configure RAR components: performance obligations (POB), fulfillment and invoice inbound processing, allocation, contract combination/modification, and the RAR-to-FI/GL posting flow
• Configure EBRR components: recognition keys, condition types, G/L account determination, and direct posting logic for straightforward event-based revenue
• Define and configure integration of EBRR/RAR with SD Billing, PS, Service, FI-AR, FI-GL, and the Universal Journal
• Configure recognition rules, deferral/accrual postings, and period-end revenue processing for both approaches, ensure alignment with accounting standards and audit requirements
• Identify and resolve revenue recognition exceptions in both EBRR and RAR, define classification, ownership, and resolution workflows
• Ensure reconciliation between recognized revenue, billing documents, and the Universal Journal, minimize manual reconciliation effort across both processes
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect to preserve SAP accounting objects as the authoritative source and to keep the SAP Revenue Base architecture consistent across EBRR and RAR
• Support Fit-to-Standard workshops for revenue recognition, document decisions on standard functionality, configuration, and any required extensions for either approach
• Apply Clean Core principles, avoid unnecessary customization or replication of legacy revenue-recognition logic
• Prepare functional specifications for extensions, interfaces, reports, and forms related to revenue recognition, and review corresponding technical designs
• Support data migration activities for open items, revenue recognition postings, POB data, and historical contract/billing data relevant to EBRR and RAR
• Define and execute unit, integration, and regression test scenarios for revenue recognition processes under both approaches
• Support cutover planning, hypercare, and production stabilization activities related to revenue recognition
• Ensure performance, auditability, and reporting requirements for revenue recognition are addressed in the design

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience configuring both SAP Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) and SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR/FI-RA) in S/4HANA, including at least one full implementation cycle of each
• Expertise in SAP FI, including FI-GL, FI-AR, and the Universal Journal
• Understanding of the architectural and functional differences between EBRR and RAR, and criteria for deciding which to apply per revenue scenario
• Knowledge of SD Billing and its integration with revenue recognition and accounting
