Position Summary

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment that requires gowning.
• Work in areas where handling human blood products (Biosafety Level 2) will berequired.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and shift structure.

This role leads one of the manufacturing operations team at the Multi-Product BMS CTManufacturing Site in Leiden, NL and will directly report into the Senior Director ManufacturingLeiden Cell Therapy Manufacturing. This role is responsible for oversight and delivery of themanufacturing start-up activities, clinical and commercial GMP manufacturing operations, talentmanagement/succession planning and engagement and retention strategies for Leiden CTManufacturing Operations.

Responsible for identifying and implementing policies, procedures,and manufacturing strategies to facilitate optimal production and performance. Responsibilityincludes delivering on critical project milestones and managing a functional area that will have adirect impact on the growth and success of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe,validated, and compliant state of processes and procedures and develops appropriateimprovement strategies to keep the operational processes with compliance and licenseguidance.

This role is responsible, in collaboration with Manufacturing management, to manage theManufacturing Operations long term business strategy, business continuity plan, annualdepartment budget, business case creation/evaluation process, portfolio management andOperational Excellence Program.   

Key Responsibilities

Leading one of the BMS CT Manufacturing Operations Teams, in shift, at the Leiden site toinclude;

• Hiring, mentoring, and developing exceptional people/teams, conducting performancereviews, and identifying opportunities for career growth for Senior Managers, Managers,and Associates.
• Leading a team of 5-8 direct report and ~80 indirect reports.
• Ensuring a culture that embraces safety in the work environment and safety of thepatients through compliance with company procedures, policies, and cGMPrequirements.
• Championing a culture of exceptional teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement,and communication across the organization.
• Provide leadership and oversight in the implementation and execution of manufacturingprocesses according to established procedures and production records with CGMP’s.Address priorities, meet schedule, maximize productivity, control costs, and increaseefficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ or more years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing operations,manufacturing science and technology, manufacturing systems, and/or qualityassurance.
• 8+ years leadership experience including leading leaders.
• Strong knowledge of GMP compliance and GMP manufacturing operations.
• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal communication skills with the abilityto translate complex projects requirements and information into plans, improvements andstandards.
• Background in Protein Biologics or Cell Therapy Manufacturing required.
• Certified Black Belt or equivalent certification (Lean Expert).
