As aSoftware Engineer II specializing inAkesoLIMS at Tempus, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of ourLaboratory Information Management System. In this role, you will build and enhance software that supports laboratory operations, data management, workflow execution, and REST API development across both backend and frontend systems.

You will work closely withLaboratory staff andProject Management to gather requirements, translate laboratory workflows into technical solutions, and deliver reliable, scalable applications that improve efficiency and usability for end users.

• You have strong experience withC# and application development usingASP.NET andMVC.

• You have experience developingREST APIs inC#,Python, orNode.js.

• You have strongSQL Server skills and are comfortable writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries and database objects.

• You have front-end development experience usingJavaScript andjQuery.

• You have experience usingAI-assisted development tools such asGitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude to improve productivity, accelerate learning, and support software delivery.

• You are comfortable contributing across bothbackend and frontend development.

• You can work directly withLaboratory staff andProject Management to gather, clarify, and refine requirements.

• You are able to translate operational and user needs into practical software solutions.

• You’ve worked in collaborative environments and are comfortable iterating on features and enhancements with cross-functional partners.

• You embrace GenAI tools in your day-to-day work to boost productivity, accelerate learning, and focus your energy on solving the most impactful problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain features forAkesoLIMS.

• Build and support software across both thebackend andfrontend application stack.

• Develop solutions usingASP.NET, MVC, C#, JavaScript, and jQuery.

• Design, develop, and maintainREST APIs to support system integrations and application functionality.

• UseAI-assisted engineering tools such asGitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude appropriately to improve development efficiency, code quality, and documentation.

• Design and optimize database interactions inSQL Server.

• Partner withLaboratory staff to understand workflows, pain points, and process requirements.

• Collaborate withProject Management to define scope, requirements, priorities, and delivery plans.

• Troubleshoot defects, support production issues, and improve system reliability and performance.

• Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and development best practices.
