Project Description
Experienced educators and recent graduates are invited to support literacy instruction in the Eastern Caribbean. In recent years, the Ministries of Education and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have focused their efforts to address low literacy rates across schools in the Eastern Caribbean. Their initiatives include expanding higher education and ongoing professional development in literacy education, appointing literacy coordinators and coaches, implementing instructional strategies, and providing appropriate grade-level materials. Despite these efforts, gaps in student performance remain from factors, such as varied levels of at-home support and different student-specific learning needs. The Ministries of Education and regional partners are committed to improving literacy outcomes through a structured support system for teachers and students and are seeking assistance to establish and/or enhance the support structures through knowledge exchange, introduction of different evidence-based practices and additional technical expertise to strengthen literacy instruction, student engagement and student and teacher agency.
As an Elementary School Literacy Education Trainer, you will work closely with education officers, school leaders, and classroom teachers to strengthen instructional skills across schools. Together, you will identify opportunities to deliver targeted, student-centered support to students and integrate digital tools that enhance literacy learning.
