About the Role

We’re looking for an IT Technician Intern to join our Information Technology team in Gqeberha (Hybrid) as part of a 12‑month internship programme.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain practical experience in IT support, systems administration, network troubleshooting, and end‑user support within a fast‑growing renewable energy business. Working closely with the Head of IT and IT team, you will develop the technical and professional skills required to support and maintain the organisation’s digital infrastructure and technology environment. 

Key Responsibilities

End‑User Support

  • Provide first‑line IT support to employees, resolving day‑to‑day technology issues.
  • Maintain clear communication with users during troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Support desktop, notebook, and peripheral device setup and maintenance.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes for users and devices in line with approved procedures.
  • Install, configure, and maintain user devices and related accounts.
  • Ensure users have the required tools and access to perform their roles effectively. 

IT Systems & Network Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 network and system issues.
  • Escalate more complex incidents to the Head of IT where required.
  • Support the maintenance and functionality of company IT systems and equipment.

Procurement & Administration

  • Obtain quotations and assist with procurement processes for IT equipment and services.
  • Prepare commitment and payment documentation related to IT purchases.
  • Participate in IT team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. 

Technology & Project Support

  • Assist with video conferencing equipment setup and troubleshooting.
  • Support the IT Technician and wider IT team on business and project-related technology requirements.
  • Undertake additional IT-related tasks as required by management.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and IT systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on quality and results.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Advantageous

  • A+ Certification.
  • N+ Networking Certification.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • Experience or coursework in IT support, helpdesk functions, or systems administration.
  • Exposure to video conferencing solutions such as Teams Rooms or Logitech systems.
