Engineering Supervisor

Location: Kalamazoo, MI ย 

Are you a driven manufacturing leader with a passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and team development? We are seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, and Test Operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will be responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and reliability while leading cross-functional teams that directly impact operational performance and customer satisfaction. What You'll Do

Lead Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Testing Operations

  • Provide leadership and direction to Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, and Test Operations teams.
  • Drive a culture focused on safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams to achieve plant objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Lead initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve processes.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing effectiveness and reduce the cost of nonconformance.
  • Ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved through robust testing processes and performance validation.

Oversee Maintenance & Facilities

  • Manage all plant maintenance activities, repairs, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and overall operational performance.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and cost effectively.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Lead manufacturing readiness activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality teams to develop manufacturing processes, machining capabilities, assembly methods, plant layouts, tooling strategies, cost estimates, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure successful product launches through effective planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.

Develop and Inspire Teams

  • Build organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Foster an engaging and inclusive work environment that promotes accountability, recognition, and professional growth.
  • Establish credibility and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, operations, maintenance, or a related industrial environment.
  • Previous leadership experience supervising teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production systems, and operational improvement techniques.
  • Demonstrated success driving safety, quality, productivity, and cost-improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, or Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing-to-Order (MTO) environments.
  • Experience supporting performance or product testing operations.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement certification/experience.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, component prints, blueprints, and manufacturing routers.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and process development initiatives.
