Internship Details: This internship/co-op opportunity is based inToronto, Ontario and follows ahybrid work model. Candidates should be able to work from ourdowntown Toronto office 1–2 days per week, depending on team and business needs.
We are considering students available forinternship/co-op terms ranging from 8 to 16 months beginning in May/June 2027
Role Overview:
Help build and validate the next generation of cloud-based software that empowers employees to develop their skills and reach their full potential. As a Software Developer Intern/Co-op in Test on the WEM team, you will gain hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle, contributing to design, development, testing, automation, debugging, and validation of production-quality services.
You will work with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Selenium, Playwright, and AWS, while learning how engineering teams solve real-world challenges related to scalability, security, quality, reliability, and usability. Working alongside experienced engineers in an agile environment, you will contribute meaningful code and test automation while building a strong foundation in software engineering and quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the design, development, and verification of high-quality full-stack software throughout the development lifecycle, from implementation and testing through deployment and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain automated tests that improve software quality, expand test coverage, and increase confidence in production releases.
Build and enhance automated test pipelines that enable reliable, efficient, and repeatable software delivery.
Test and validate resilient, scalable, secure, and maintainable cloud applications running on AWS.
Investigate and debug software issues, collaborating with developers and quality engineering partners to identify root causes and effective solutions.
Explore and apply modern technologies, tools, and testing approaches to strengthen automation, engineering efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Develop a strong sense of ownership for software quality by participating in design discussions, identifying potential risks, and helping ensure features meet functional and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Familiarity with programming in Java, Kotlin, Python, or a comparable modern programming language.
Familiarity with Jenkins, CI/CD concepts, and automated test execution.
Foundational knowledge of software testing concepts, including test design, debugging, and automated testing.
Understanding of software development fundamentals and an interest in gaining experience across the full software development lifecycle.
Familiarity with agile development practices, including collaborative teamwork and sprint-based development.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with curiosity and a willingness to investigate technical challenges.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with developers, quality engineers, and other team members.
Working knowledge of AI concepts and AI-powered development tools, with an interest in applying them to software testing, automation, and engineering workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to automated testing tools and frameworks, such as Selenium or Playwright.
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and/or experience working with AWS technologies.
Familiarity with modern software development tools and workflows, such as Git, source control, and code review practices.
Interest in exploring and learning new programming languages, development tools, testing approaches, and cloud technologies.
Enthusiasm for applying new technologies and approaches to improve software quality, automation, and engineering efficiency.

Compensation:
This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonusopportunities. Â
