Automation Support Group Coordinator

Job Description:

Dow Jones is seeking an Automation Support Group Coordinator to act as the central orchestrator for all decentralized automation efforts within the Data Intelligence & AI Governance team. In this role, you will ensure we are building impactful, replicable solutions that accelerate the teams workflows and support the continued development and technical upskilling across the Data Intelligence & AI Governance team.

As the central point of coordination, you will bridge the gap between distributed research desks and the department leadership. You will be responsible for overseeing the governance of decentralized tools - from vetting initial code and maintaining development standards to quantifying business impact and translating technical wins for executive leadership. You will report to the Director, Automation & Reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Coordination & Consolidation: Act as the central hub for R&C automation by maintaining a registry of automation solutions. Identify overlapping efforts across different research desks, consolidate them into shared, reusable modules, and chair regular updates to track progress and resolve blockers.
  • Governance & Quality Assurance: Manage code reviews and establish robust deployment processes by the associated team members. Implement version control, ensure all distributed tools meet strict "Definition of Done" standards, and conduct regular audits and feedback sessions to set and improve best practices across the wider team.
  • Impact Visibility & Reporting: Create and manage tools to quantitatively track impact metrics. Translate these technical wins into compelling business value narratives for the VP, Research Leads, and the wider 500-person department during organized "Demo Days."
  • Stakeholder & Matrix Management: Partner closely with Research Managers to protect the dedicated technical time of distributed team members, provide technical performance feedback, and navigate priority conflicts across a fast-paced matrix environment.

Qualifications

  • Essential Experience: Proven project leadership with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, manage matrix structures, and drive complex technical initiatives from conception to completion.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience in code review practices, SQL optimization, and enforcing software development quality standards. Detail-oriented with a strict focus on assuring accuracy in automated data processes.
  • Delivery & Communication: Agile mindset with a track record of successful delivery. Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate dense technical information into clear, actionable insights for both engineering teams and non-technical executives.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience in architectural oversight, requirements gathering, and creating reusable technical modules or ETL pipelines. Proficiency in data visualization for building impact-tracking dashboards. Previous experience mentoring technical staff.

Our Benefits

  • Generous Time Off (30 days of holidays/year)
