Job Description

• As a Licensed Hair Stylist at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, you will be responsible for providing Guests with professional hair and makeup services at Tenaya Stone Spa. This includes, consultations in the art of makeup application and professional cuts, styles and therapeutic treatments for hair.

• Responsible for providing exceptional Guest Service while administering professional facials, waxing services and an array of body treatments; Must have thorough knowledge of the skin and have excellent facial massage and skin extraction techniques as well as possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation practices.

• Responsible for providing exceptional Guest Service while providing massages/other related services to Guests for therapeutic and remedial reasons, administering body conditioning treatments by applying various approved products.

• Manage a high volume of incoming calls from Guests and Cast while maintaining high energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward Guests/Cast with each and every call
• Maintain a significant amount of spa and fitness product knowledge, sales strategy, policies and procedure, and Disneyland Resort information
• Treat every call as a sales opportunity by educating our Guests/Cast on Disney spa services and products
• Partner with our Guests/Cast and through discovery offer spa treatment options that match the Guest’s needs and drive revenue for the business
• Maintain expected standards set by the business in areas of revenue, efficiency, and guest service
• Possess technical proficiency in booking, changing and updating reservations
• Independently multi-task in a fast paced environment while accurately inputting detailed information into the reservation system with continual computer use including Windows, Spa and Hotel reservation systems, internet and intranet sites
• Maintain the integrity of the Disney brand at all times
• Capacity to receive large number of continuous inbound calls on a multi-line system
• Answer incoming calls from Guests or Cast to book, change, or cancel spa or fitness reservations
• Serve as a product subject matter expert providing world-class service in support of revenue-generating spa sales
• Actively promote spa, treatments, services, wellness sessions and retail as well as programs and promotions
• Review guest appointment/schedules as needed
• Maximize booking opportunities. Accurately confirm reservations
• Provide detailed descriptions of spa treatments, packages, services, facility features and hours of operation
• Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized work area
• Regularly attend/participate in and support ongoing training to continue to be knowledgeable about current spa trends, product updates, system enhancements, etc.
• Perform all actions safely in accordance with prescribed methods and equipment, including Safety in Motion techniques

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, accurate and immediate responses to all Guest requests in a professional manner ensuring complete Guest satisfaction
• Actively promote spa, treatments, services, sessions, programs, promotions, and retail
• Attend mandatory training to maintain knowledge of current spa policies, procedures and trends
• Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of products to be cost effective
• Ability to effectively perform all spa treatments and services as defined by the position being performed
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and Tenaya Stone Spa policies and procedures
• Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required

• Provide consistent professional hair and makeup services in accordance with Tenaya Stone Spa protocols and accepted certification practices
• Broad understanding of color symmetry/coordination and understand the use and effects of different textures (frost, shimmer, etc.) 
• Must have the ability to create an image for the guest's needs/social event using different makeup colors, textures and application techniques
• Must possess a technical understanding of product ingredients to avoid allergic reactions
• Must be able to perform all hair/makeup services offered by Tenaya Stone Spa

• Provide consistent and professional facial and body treatments in accordance with Tenaya Stone Spa protocols and accepted certification practices
• Must be able to perform all esthetic treatments offered by Resort spa
• Additional leadership opportunities may be available requiring completion of an additional practical assessment

• Provide consistent professional massage treatments in accordance with Tenaya Stone Spa protocols and accepted certification practices
• Ability to properly apply oils, lotions, and other appropriate products
• Must be able to perform all massage treatments offered by Tenaya Stone Spa
• Additional leadership opportunities may be available that would require completion of an additional practical/ assessment

Basic Qualifications

• You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
• Able to effectively work independently or as part of a team
• Basic communication skills (able to positively talk with Guest, Cast Members and leadership)
• Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and special events
• Excellent Hospitality skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced environment
• Ability to complete tasks independently
• Knowledgeable about The Disneyland Resort and surrounding area

• Previous experience in a Spa or Hotel environment
• Ability to handle difficult/sensitive situations independently,  while confidently utilizing service recovery methods
• Must currently hold and maintain state Cosmetologist or Barber license with state of California
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Ability to complete tasks independently
• Spiel memorization and delivery

• Must currently hold and maintain state Esthetician license (with State of California)
• Previous experience in a spa or hotel environment
• Ability to handle difficult/sensitive situations independently, while confidently utilizing service recovery methods
• Possess complete knowledge of all services and products while educating Guests
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent guest service skills
• Receptive to special requests and proactive in anticipating Guests needs

• Must currently hold and maintain state Massage Therapist  license (with state of California)
• Previous experience in a spa or hotel environment
• Ability to handle difficult/sensitive situations independently, while confidently utilizing service recovery methods
• Possess complete knowledge of all services and products while educating Guests
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent guest service skills
• Receptive to special requests and proactive in anticipating Guests needs

• Ability to keep up with a fast pace work environment and independently keep up to date with changing product knowledge and policy and procedure changes
• Ability to reflect a professional image while maintaining guest privacy
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with high attention to detail
• Strong computer skills and knowledge is required (must be comfortable communicating via company e-mail)
• Ability to use multiple devices throughout the day including iPads, iPhones, hand-held radios and desktop computers
• Ability to handle difficult/sensitive situations independently, while confidently utilizing service recovery methods
• Must be able to maintain professionalism in high pressure situations and be knowledgeable of emergency procedures
• Strong verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Spa or Hotel environment 
• Basic computer knowledge

• Proficiency in OPERA hotel property management system
• Familiarity with a spa reservations system
• Bi-lingual

Compensation Details

• The pay rate for this Esthetician role is $21.13 per hour, plus commission and gratuities
