Purpose: The Dental Billing Clerk is responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. Dental Billers are responsible for activities including submitting claims and following up with insurance companies and a variety of tasks that are assigned.

PART I: ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES
Â
1. Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper if needed.
2. Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
3. Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
4. Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements
5. Evaluates patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans.
6. Review and reports status of delinquent accounts.
7. Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of coding and dental procedures as well as being current regarding legislative changes related to dental billing.
8. Corrects all rejected billings and resubmit.
9. Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
10. Processes payments from insurance companies.
11. Maintains account receivables aging analysis
12. Conducts self in accordance with WWFHC employee manual.
13. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
14. Identify and perform tasks within Dentrix.
15. Performs other functions as determined by the Billing Manager.

Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree in business or health related field
2. Experience: Three (3) years of experience in a dental billing office with primary focus on insurance billing and coding practices. Three (3) years of medical coding experience.

PART IV: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Proficiency using Dentrix and Microsoft Office
2. Knowledge of basic billing, coding and account management techniques
3. Skilled with working in a complex work environment
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and maintain organizationally appropriate relationships
5. Knowledge of organization policies and procedures.
6. Knowledge of computer, systems, and medical billing applications.
7. Skilled in exercising initiative, appropriate judgment, problem-solving and decision making.
8. Skilled in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external customers
