Network Engineer

from 🇧🇪 Belgium

As a Network & Communication Engineer, you are responsible for designing, managing and optimizing DEME’s global network infrastructure.
You ensure reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide – from HQ to offshore environments.
This role goes beyond daily operations: you actively contribute to projects, architecture and the future evolution of our network environment.
You will be part of an international team working on a complex and highly distributed network environment, including vessels, offshore sites and remote locations across the globe.

Your responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN networks.

  • Ensure reliable and secure connectivity between offices, vessels and remote project sites worldwide.

  • Manage and optimize network components such as switches, routers, firewalls and WiFi.

  • Monitor network performance and proactively resolve incidents and issues.

  • Take ownership of network-related projects and contribute to improvements and new initiatives.

  • Help define and standardise the global network setup across DEME.

  • Perform upgrades, patching and lifecycle management of network and security solutions.

  • Act as a point of contact for more complex network and communication challenges.

  • Work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders and external partners.

  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of configurations and network architecture.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent through experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in network and communication infrastructure.

  • Strong knowledge of routing & switching (e.g. Aruba), firewalls & security (e.g. Fortinet), WiFi, VPN technologies and network monitoring.

  • Experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow is a plus.

  • You take ownership and like to take initiative when it comes to improvements or projects.

  • You are not afraid to speak up and bring your own opinion – you can challenge ideas in a constructive way.

  • You are hands-on, pragmatic and solution-oriented.

  • You work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • You are comfortable working in an international environment and communicate easily in English (Dutch is a plus).

  • Willingness to occasionally travel is a plus, but not a must.

Our offer

  • An extensive mobility program for a healthy work-life balance.

  • A permanent training track which allows you to develop yourself personally and professionally.

  • A stimulating, innovative workplace with numerous growth opportunities.

  • A people-oriented environment with an interactive health program and a focus on employee wellbeing.
