JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Tax Accountant is responsible for providing support to POET’s tax function. To succeed in this role, you should have an eye for detail, an interest in learning about tax rules and laws and a desire to take personal responsibility for completing tasks and solving problems. This position is ideal for a results-driven, positive-minded candidate with strong analytical skills.
This team member is a valuable part of the corporate tax team and is involved in income tax compliance, tax planning, and decision-making throughout the year, working as part of a team to accomplish goals. If tax accounting interests you but a tax season doesn’t, then this job is for you!
This is an on-site role located inSioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include:
Prepare federal and state income tax returns and tax provisions for a diverse group of entities included in POET’s consolidated group.
Calculate required estimated tax payments by applying tax laws and regulations and incorporating forecasted data from multiple software applications.
Forecast taxable income and income tax liabilities to support tax and cash management planning.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather accurate data, resolve tax-related issues, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Participate in engaging training opportunities designed to build role-specific skills and stay current on tax legislation and developments.
Utilize tax research platforms to evaluate filing requirements and tax issues using the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and other relevant authorities and guidance.
Collaborate on a variety of projects and initiatives, applying your skills to support the team and POET’s business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent education and experience
BONUS POINTS
Prior experience with tax preparation or completion of tax-focused college courses.
Prior experience in ONESOURCE Income Tax and/or ONESOURCE Tax Provision.
CPA license or interest in pursuing a CPA license

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office environment, working at a personal computer where you may sit or stand. Most of our Sioux Falls office workspace consists of an open-concept design intended to promote open communication and collaboration.
