What You’ll Do

You won’t be stuck behind a desk. In this role, you’ll:

• Collect and manage items like batteries, light bulbs, chemicals, and other hazardous materials
• Assist with household hazardous waste drop-off events and community programs
• Help unload vehicles, weigh materials, and sort waste for proper disposal
• Prepare materials for shipment and support vendor pickups
• Set up and tear down community collection events
• Operate equipment (forklift, bobcat—training available if needed)
• Transport materials safely between locations
• Help maintain equipment, vehicles, and facilities
• Work alongside a team that supports environmental initiatives across Allen County

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone dependable, team-oriented, and ready to roll up their sleeves:

• High school diploma or GED (related degree is a plus, but not required)
• Experience in waste management or a similar field is helpful, but we’ll train the right person
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License
• Comfortable with physical work and lifting up to 75 lbs
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

What the Job is Like

This is an active, fast-paced role that takes you out into the community and into the field:

• Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Stay physically active throughout your shift
• Handle materials that require attention to safety and detail
• Interact with the public and local partners during collections

Schedule & Details

• Part-Time (up to 30 hours per week)
• Overtime opportunities as needed
• Reports to the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Coordinator
• No supervisory responsibilities
