Enterprise Architect

from šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ Australia

Are you an architect who thrives at the intersection of strategy, technology, and business impact?Ā

At Datacom,Ā we'reĀ looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to help shape the technology futures of some of the region's most significant organisations. This is a rare opportunity toĀ operateĀ at the highest levels of architecture practice — working with customer executives, influencing strategy, and seeing your decisions come to life through real delivery.Ā

Ā

About the RoleĀ

This is a hands-on leadership position for an architect who is equally comfortable sketching solutions on a whiteboard with a CIO as they are designing reference architectures, running governance reviews, and mentoring delivery teams through implementation.Ā

As a Senior Enterprise Architect, you'll be a trusted advisor to Datacom's customers and a strategic partner to our sales and delivery teams,Ā shaping architectural direction across Business, Data, Application, and Technology domains, and identifying opportunities that drive real growth across the organisation.Ā

Ā

What You'll DoĀ

Shape Architecture StrategyĀ

  • Develop and evolve enterprise architecture strategies, principles, standards, and roadmaps across all architecture domainsĀ
  • Lead architecture governance — including review boards, design authority participation, and standards complianceĀ
  • Define reusable patterns and reference architectures that accelerate delivery and raise the quality bar across engagementsĀ
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to keep Datacom — and our customers — ahead of the curveĀ

Deliver Technical ExcellenceĀ

  • Design complex, end-to-end solutions spanning hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, on-premises, and edge environmentsĀ
  • Conduct architecture assessments of customer environments, surfacing risks, technical debt, and modernisation opportunitiesĀ
  • Develop business capability models, current and future state views, gap analyses, transition roadmaps, and integration strategiesĀ
  • Provide authoritative recommendations through options papers, architecture decision records, and formal consultancyĀ

Drive Customer Engagement & GrowthĀ

  • Build and sustain trusted advisor relationships with customer stakeholders from the C-suite to delivery teamsĀ
  • Lead discovery workshops, strategic planning sessions, and architecture assessments that uncoverĀ real businessĀ challengesĀ
  • Support pre-sales activity — contributing to proposals, RFP responses, and statements of work with architecture narratives and effort estimatesĀ
  • IdentifyĀ and generate pipeline opportunities across Datacom's managed services, cloud, security, data, and software engineering practicesĀ

Mentor & CollaborateĀ

  • Mentor and upskill junior and mid-level architects, fostering a culture of architectural thinking and practical excellenceĀ
  • Collaborate across solution architects, delivery leads, and engineering teams to ensure architectural intent is preserved through to implementationĀ
  • Represent Datacom's architecture capability at industry events, customer forums, and thought leadership engagementsĀ

Ā

What You'll BringĀ

ExperienceĀ

  • 10+ years of IT experience with a strong enterprise architecture background spanning multiple domainsĀ
  • A track recordĀ of delivering architecture outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments — enterprise or governmentĀ
  • Practical experience producing real architecture artefacts: reference architectures, roadmaps, ADRs, standards documentationĀ
  • Hands-on experience in customer-facing roles — discovery, pre-sales, workshops, and executive presentationsĀ
  • Experience designing for hybrid and multi-cloud environments and translating architecture decisions into commercial contextĀ

KnowledgeĀ

  • Strong working knowledge of TOGAF or equivalent EA frameworks, applied pragmatically in real-world engagementsĀ
  • Solid grasp of modern application architecture — microservices, event-driven, API-first, containerisation, and serverlessĀ
  • Working knowledge of data architecture principles — data governance, data mesh,Ā lakehouse, MDM, and analytics platformsĀ
  • Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with working familiarity across othersĀ
  • Understanding of zero-trust security principles, IAM, and security-by-design practicesĀ
  • Commercial acumen — including software licensing, TCO analysis, business case development, and FinOps thinkingĀ

SkillsĀ

  • Exceptional ability to decompose complex problems into structured, actionable decisionsĀ
  • Outstanding communication skills:Ā Able to translate technical complexity for C-suite executives and technical teams alikeĀ
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills: Confident leading workshops, steering committees, and executive briefingsĀ
  • A collaborative mindset: Able to influence without authority and rally diverse teams around a shared architectural visionĀ

QualificationsĀ

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experienceĀ
  • Desirable: TOGAF certification, cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect), and postgraduate qualificationsĀ

Ā

IfĀ you'reĀ an enterprise architect who wants to make a real impact,Ā not just write documents, but shape decisions, build relationships, and driveĀ outcomesĀ  we'dĀ love to hear from you.Ā

Note: This role requires the successful candidate to hold or be able to obtain an NV-1 Clearance
