Location: Spokane, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-month Contract (with possible extensions up to 5 years)
Pay Range: $52.90 – $55.38 per hour
Supports the maintenance, modeling, validation, and deployment of Energy Management System data and displays used for power grid operations. Works with dispatch, engineering, field, and technical teams to maintain accurate system models, develop user displays, support scheduled and emergency deployments, and maintain technical documentation and records.
Position Responsibilities
- Implement scheduled changes to RTU data in the SCADAMOM database, substation interconnections in the NETMOM database, and ICCP data in the OAGMOM database.
- Validate SCADA and network models, including interdependencies critical to power grid safety and reliability.
- Develop and maintain user interface displays based on dispatcher specifications, including one line diagrams, IPS, RAS, and tabular displays.
- Use e-terraHabitat display builders to develop and maintain operational system displays.
- Support biweekly deployment of updated EMS databases and displays to operational systems and assist with unscheduled or emergency deployments.
- Coordinate EMS deployments with dispatch personnel at designated control centers and other operational stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain documentation for EMS database and display maintenance, troubleshooting, and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with EMS teams, dispatch, engineering, field personnel, and other stakeholders to establish modeling and display standards.
- Support reliability and consistency of EMS models and user displays through established standards, validation, and maintenance practices.
- Maintain official documents, files, emails, and records in accordance with applicable information security, records management, compliance, and audit requirements.
Position Requirements
Education & Corresponding Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Information Technology or a closely-related technical discipline is preferred:
- 1 year of experience is required with an applicable Bachelor's Degree.
- 3 years of experience is required with an applicable Associate's Degree.
- 5 years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
- Experience should include working with logical data models, not just physical/DBA experience
- At least 1 year of "User Interface/User Experience” (UI/UX) design experience and at least 1 year of hands-on experience modeling and supporting real-time critical data; or
- At least 1 year of experience providing support to an electric utility control center and at least 1 year of experience working with Industrial Control Systems (e.g., SCADA)
- 1 year of hands-on experience working with hierarchical databases in GE-Alstom products to model power grid information for use in a control center environment.
- Experience conducting data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which includes conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form.
- Knowledge of and understanding of database management system administration with regard to performance, configuration and denormalization.
- Experience leading efforts to verify system test data is loaded accurately and in timely manner.
- Knowledge of GE-Alstom e-terra Habitat databases and displays.
- Knowledge of NERC-CIP and FISMA requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
