AUTHORITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs VT inspections on completed welds IAW MDD-00948 (VT Structure).
- Ability to use inspection tools to ensure tolerances are within written procedure and aren’t exceeded.
- Ability to understand drawings to identify part locations and weld joint information.
- Ability to understand and interpret information identified on the SWSS for each joint and correspond with correct drawings.
- Consults with internal and external customers as necessary.
- Provides guidance to production employees and Supervision for workmanship corrections required.
- Shall document, accept or reject workmanship based upon contract acceptance criteria for inspections being performed.
- Ensure all training qualifications are up to date in Cornerstone and in Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS).
- Must obtain ERS access and sign off joint inspection status daily using EB supplied IGEL prior to end of shift. All joints must have correct kick code logged if joint is rejectable.
- Ability to successfully pass required audits to maintain MDD-00948 certification.
- Must be willing to work anyshift.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.
- Assist with training as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Candidate must possess three – five(3-5) years welding, industrial, or Inspection experience and be able to become MDD-00948 certified in Visual Testing of completed welds (VT Structure) within three (3) months of employment. Time frame may be extended based on class and training scheduling availability.
- Willingness to submit background check required. EB badge approval required.
- MDD-00948 certification in Visual Testing of completed welds (VT Structure) is required and must be maintained. Suspension of certification to reviewed and path forward established. Failure to regain certification will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Proven ability to perform simple math (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and measure using the metric / standard system required.Â
- Basic understanding of quality principlesrequired.Â
- Ability and willingness to work irregular or extended work schedule asrequired.
- Good mechanicalaptitude required.Â
- Ability to receive and carry out written and verbal instructions required.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, work under pressure and beself-motivated required.
- Strong organizationalskills required.
- Good oral and written communicationskills required.
- Willingness and ability to learn any new NDT methods and / or skills assigned by management.Â
- Willingness and ability to increase understanding of the applicable standards and requirements for the job.
- Other NDT experience is a plus and will be considered equivalentforpreferredapplicants.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, + 90 dB.
