Position summary:

The Department of Race, Gender, and Ethnic Studies seeks adjunct faculty to develop and teach online courses in support of a Minor in Queer Studies.

Description of Work Unit:

The Ethnic Studies Department critically examines the interlocking forces of domination that are rooted in socially constructed categories of gender, sexuality, class, and race. Our faculty and researchers are committed to theoretical, empirical, qualitative, textual, and community-based research, pedagogy, service, and outreach. Utilizing interdisciplinary, trans international, and comparative approaches, we challenge paradigms that systematically marginalize the experiences of diverse populations. In doing so, we bring to bear issues of power, privilege, and social justice pertinent to aggrieved groups in the United States and abroad. We are especially committed to nurturing civic-minded and culturally informed students who strive to strengthen the communities in which they reside. Salary Range:

$1,000 to $6,500 per course, depending on enrollment. $5,000 stipend for course development.

Essential Job Duties:

• Serve as the instructor of record for an online course with up to 30 students—delivering and developing asynchronous course content, designing and grading assignments, and communicating regularly with students.
• Demonstrate excellence in online instruction.
• Contribute to the department's expansion of our online curriculum.
• Collaborate with Director of Online Programs, full-time faculty, and instructional designer to develop your portfolio of courses in alignment with departmental curriculum and CSU Online's Quality Matters criteria.
• Other related duties as needed.

Supervision:

• This position does not supervise any employees

Minimum Qualifications:

• MA in Women's Studies or related field with an emphasis on Queer Studies.
• Experience in online instruction in Queer Studies, Women's Studies or related fields.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies or Women’s Studies is preferred
• Previous teaching experience
