About the Role

Join Flinders University Library as a Senior Librarian (Collections Engagement), where you will lead the development and delivery of engaging, accessible and discoverable physical collection experiences across the Library network. Working collaboratively across teams, you will drive collection presentation initiatives, supervise staff, and contribute to a consistent, user-centred approach that supports learning, teaching, research and community engagement.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the curation, presentation and enhancement of physical library collections.
• Coordinating collection refresh, relocation and engagement projects across Library branches.
• Developing displays, showcases and collection-focused initiatives that promote discovery and user engagement.
• Supervising and supporting a team while driving continuous improvement and service excellence.

This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to “Changing 10 million lives, Every One Matters”, by 2035 through leading engaging and accessible library collection experiences that enhance learning, research and community connection. By driving excellence in collection presentation, fostering innovation in resource discoverability, and maintaining a strong focus on user needs, the role supports Flinders’ commitment to being student centric, here for good, and delivering outstanding outcomes for its diverse community.

About You

You are a collaborative and forward-thinking library professional with experience delivering high-quality services in an academic or research library environment. With strong leadership, project management and stakeholder engagement skills, you are passionate about connecting users with resources and enhancing the library experience.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience leading staff, coordinating priorities and fostering a positive team culture.
• Knowledge of collection presentation, content curation, wayfinding and resource discoverability.
• Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work across diverse stakeholder groups.

The ideal candidate will also hold a relevant university degree in library and information science or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Appointment to this role is conditional on the completion of required pre-employment checks and declarations, each of which must be satisfactory to the University. This includes:

• A current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University. The contract of Employment is conditional upon the receipt of these completed compliance checks. A disclosable outcome will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Each case will be assessed on its individual merits and relevance to the inherent requirements of the role.

• You are required to submit a CV, along with a Suitability Statement as a separate document.  This should be no more than 3 pages, and address the below Key Position Capabilities of theposition description:
  • Completion of a degree in library and information science or a related information discipline, with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff, establish priorities, coordinate workloads and build capability in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in physical collection presentation, content curation, collection enhancement, wayfinding and discoverability.
  • Demonstrated project management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to exercise initiative and judgement, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Well-developed to high level written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, recommendations and project documentation for different audiences.
