The Field Engineer Intern is responsible for implementing IT installations, services, and changes at Copartās HQ, offices, and yards. This includes office support, operational growth, yard moves, remodels, decommissioning, and general IT support. Some travel may be required.
Duties:
ā¢āāRemotely assist with installs, troubleshooting, and repairs of network, desktop, and voice equipment.
ā¢āāMonitor and troubleshoot data circuits; escalate issues to vendors as needed.
ā¢āāTrack and resolve tickets in the Helpdesk system.
ā¢āāDocument and manage IT equipment inventory.
ā¢āāInstall and support IT devices, including PCs, servers, VoIP, mobility devices, and infrastructure.
ā¢āāAssist in IT projects, including research, configuration, and deployment.
ā¢āāCoordinate IT moves, adds, and changes across yards and offices.
ā¢āāUpdate project documentation in Copartās SharePoint.
ā¢āāDetermine and design infrastructure wiring on floor plans.
ā¢āāWork with vendors to obtain quotes and manage IT purchases.
ā¢āāVerify IT equipment arrivals and conduct inventory checks.
ā¢āāSurvey sites and report discrepancies.
ā¢āāEnsure telecommunications circuits and phone lines are operational.
ā¢āāExpedite Telecom issues and assist with IT installations.
ā¢āāConduct connectivity tests for all IT equipment.
ā¢āāResolve IT issues on opening day of new sites.
ā¢āāOther duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
ā¢āāBasic knowledge of telecommunications, LAN cabling, and data circuits.
ā¢āāSelf-motivated with good judgment under pressure.
ā¢āāStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.
ā¢āāExperience with physical network and PC equipment installations.
ā¢āāProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
ā¢āāExcellent communication and customer service skills.
ā¢āāAbility to lift 20 lbs. repeatedly.
ā¢āāUnderstanding of cabling infrastructure and standards.
Preferred Skills:
ā¢āāStrong project management abilities.
ā¢āāKnowledge of data networking and telecommunications.
