POSITION SUMMARY
The Healthy Lifestyles Coordinatoris responsible for creating welcoming and supportive environments inÂ
YMCA Fitness centers. Responsibilities include: monitoring health and fitness programs, engaging withÂ
members to help them in accomplishing their healthy living goals and participating in member incentiveÂ
and, member retention activities. Responsibilities also include assisting the Healthy Lifestyles Director andÂ
administrative duties, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Create a welcoming environment in all YMCA program areas taking time to talk to members andÂ
enthusiastically greet them by name with a smile and eye contact.
2. Proactively connect and monitor members to develop, and support the achievement of their goalsÂ
for healthy living, and matching members’ interests to YMCA programs.Â
3. Conduct appointments with members to help them develop and meet their fitness goals.
4. Responsible for building small communities by facilitating connections with and between members.Â
5. Create a safe environment by being aware of your surroundings and monitoring members to ensureÂ
they are performing exercises correctly; explain/demonstrate proper form to members whenÂ
necessary.
6. Assist Members with their questions and monitor activity in the fitness area.
7. Monitor fitness room to ensure equipment is functioning, put away, and clean.
8. Confirm member appointments and timely member follow up as required.Â
9. Model and enforce Code of Conduct, Healthy Living Policies, and administrate member issues as theyÂ
arise. Positively interpret these policies to members.
10.Respond promptly and courteously to all member complaints, compliments and inquiries whileÂ
following the appropriate procedures at all times.
11.Actively interact with members regarding their participation in YMCA programs, Annual SupportÂ
Campaign and Special Events.
12.Role model positive interactions with members for staff; assist Healthy Lifestyles Director inÂ
providing coaching and feedback to staff, when necessary, to ensure the best experience forÂ
members.
13.Assist the Healthy Lifestyles Director in providing staff training. Recommend appropriate staffÂ
coaching and discipline to Healthy Lifestyles Director, when necessary.
14.Assist Healthy Lifestyles Director with administrative tasks including but not limited to: staffÂ
scheduling, department timesheet monitoring and report auditing.
15. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
16. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
17. Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility,Â
Caring, and Fairness) as well as the YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty andÂ
responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
18. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas ofÂ
mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
19.All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Â AGE: Eighteen years or olderÂ
-  EDUCATION: High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, ExerciseÂ
- Science, or a related field, preferred.
- CERTIFICATIONS: YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, or equivalent certificationÂ
- preferred.
- SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Strong character values; communication skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSÂ
- You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of theÂ
- job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Â Bend, stoop, be able to lift at least 45 lbs. and be able to stand for periods of time up to 1 hour.
