This is a role for someone ready tooperate as arecognised technical lead in the market, shaping work winning, design direction,verificationquality and client confidence across complex buildings projects.Youâll help shape smarter healthcare spaces, datacentres, publicinfrastructure and commercial buildings that leave a legacy for communities across Aotearoa.Â

Whatyouâll doÂ
As a Lead Electrical Engineer in our Buildings team,youâll provide the technical leadership, client interface and verification capabilityrequired to deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.Youâll step into a highly visible market role, leading local and national opportunities while strengthening the teamâs design capability, qualitystandards and future growth.Â
- Technical design leadership â lead electrical design direction across small,medium and large-scale Buildings projects, setting technical standards and guiding design decisions.Â
- Verification and quality â own and lead verification, qualityassurance and producer statement requirements, including work that requires local market and council-facing knowledge.Â
- Client engagement â act as a senior client-facing technical representative for Aureconâs electrical capability in the local and wider New Zealand market.Â
- Market growth â lead and shape work winning through technical strategy, designmanagement and confident client-facing contribution.Â
- Project lifecycle support â lead key stages of the project lifecycle, including cost estimation and budgeting, design, procurement, constructionmonitoring and technical governance.Â
- Inspire and guide â mentor and guide engineers across the team, helping build technical depth,confidence and leadership capability within thenational Electrical Buildings team.Â
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration âcollaborate across Buildings, digital,infrastructure and specialist teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality outcomes for clients.Â
Projects and impactÂ
Youâll contribute to a strong pipeline of complex and meaningful work, including datacentres, healthcare opportunities, publicinfrastructure and major projects such as Hawkeâs Bay Menâs Prison.Youâll also support delivery and continuity across projects transitioning from existing senior team members, helpingmaintain quality, technicalconfidence and immediate billability.Â
Site attendanceexpected asrequired for project delivery,reviews and client engagement. Â
Whatyouâll bringÂ
Weâre looking for someone with deep electrical engineering experience, strong client-facingconfidence and the ability to provide visible technical leadership in a busy national team.Youâll enjoy balancing delivery, quality, relationships,mentoring and market growth, while helping Aurecon strengthen its Buildings presence across Aotearoa.Â
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering disciplineÂ
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering within Buildings, ideally with 10+ yearsâ post-graduation experienceÂ
- Chartered status strongly preferred, with the ability to support verification, technicalleadership and producer statement requirementsÂ
- Deep technical design capability across building services electrical systems, with the confidence to set direction and review complex design outcomesÂ
- Proven success building trusted client relationships and leading or materially influencing work winning and market-facing activityÂ
- Confidence mentoring engineers, lifting teamcapability andproviding technical guidance across multiple projectsÂ
- The ability to work collaboratively across disciplines,regions and project teamsÂ
- A practical, quality-focused mindset with the credibility to challenge, guide and improve design outcomes at a project,client and team levelÂ
