JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory
located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested
in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:
Communicator
(Permanent full-time position)
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Airport Operations and Maintenance and the Assistant-
Coordinator, the Communicator (COM) works in a Community Airport Radio Station (CARS) located at
the Inukjuak Airport. The COM provides the community with aviation support through radio
communication and serving as the primary KRG Transport representative in the community. Ensuring
industry regulatory compliance by following and reporting daily on various operational directives and
procedures to ensure the operational integrity of the airport and its various systems. COM duties
include but are not limited to:
• Communicate with pilots and vehicle operators, to provide information on air traffic, runway
conditions, emergency situations and other information, as requested or required;
• Assist airport maintainers with inspecting and reporting runway surface conditions through
SNOWIZ, the NAV Canada web-based computer software;
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly inspection reports on the serviceability of various airport
systems and equipment as scheduled by station procedures;
• Compile daily, weekly, monthly statistics on passenger aircraft movements;
• Maintain and monitor manuals for the following regulated airport programs: Safety Management
Systems, Wildlife Management Program, Emergency Response, Airport Security Program and
Airport Operations Manual
• Assist in disseminating information and monitoring airport programs such as Airside Vehicle
Operation Program (AVOP), Foreign Object Debris (FOD),
• Assist the airport maintainer in the maintenance of inventory levels and receiving process of
supplies and materials at the airport;
• Ensure the overall operational integrity and cleanliness of the airport and report identified
deficiencies back to management for corrective action.
The selected candidate must:
• Possess at least a Secondary 3 diploma (grade 9);
• Possess good judgment, planning and problem-solving skills; ability to work under stressful
conditions (emergency declared);
• Possess a valid provincial or territorial driver’s license and successfully pass the Airside Vehicle
Operator’s Permit course;
• Demonstrate a high standard of dependability, reliability and safety and have the ability to work
independently;
• Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut,
English and French;
• Possess or obtain a valid Restricted Radio Operator’s License issued by Industry Canada;
• Have good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook;
• Be available to attend and pass an intensive on-the-job training period of 2-3 weeks at the
designated airport to receive site-certification from an authorized trainer-evaluator.
Be willing to work on a rotating shift schedule 7 consecutive days, 10 hours per day / 7 consecutive
days off and occasionally work over-time to accommodate irregular airport operations (will cover
medivacs/ winter operations/contractors and infrastructure projects)

Communicateur

(Poste permanent Ă  temps plein)

Relevant du coordonnateur et du coordonnateur adjoint des opérations et de l’entretien aéroportuaires du Service des transports de l’ARK, le communicateur travaille à la station radio d’aéroport communautaire située à l’aéroport de Inukjuak. Il fournit un soutien à l’aviation par l’entremise de communications radio et est le représentant de première ligne du Service des transports de l’ARK dans la communauté. Il veille au respect de la réglementation de l’industrie en assurant le suivi des directives et procédures opérationnelles et en communiquant les renseignements afférents afin d’assurer l’intégrité opérationnelle de l’aéroport et de ses divers systèmes. Plus précisément, il s’acquittenotamment des tâches suivantes :
 
  • Communiquer avec les pilotes et les conducteurs de vĂ©hicules afin de leur transmettre des renseignements sur le trafic aĂ©rien, l’état des pistes d’atterrissage, les situations d’urgences et autres, selon les demandes et les besoins;
  • Aider les prĂ©posĂ©s Ă  l’entretien de l’aĂ©roport Ă  inspecter l’état de la surface des pistes d’atterrissage et Ă  en faire rapport par l’entremise de SNOWIZ, un logiciel Web de NAVCANADA;
  • Produire des rapports d’inspection quotidiens, hebdomadaires et mensuels sur l’état de fonctionnement de divers systèmes et Ă©quipements aĂ©roportuaires;
  • Compiler quotidiennement, hebdomadairement et mensuellement des donnĂ©es statistiques sur les passagers et les mouvements aĂ©riens selon les procĂ©dures Ă©tablies;
  • Tenir Ă  jour les manuels des programmes aĂ©roportuaires rĂ©glementĂ©s suivants et en assurer le respect : système de gestion de la sĂ©curitĂ©, programme de gestion de la faune, interventions en cas d’urgence, programme de sĂ»retĂ© aĂ©roportuaire et manuel d’exploitation de l’aĂ©roport;
  • Aider Ă  communiquer de l’information sur des programmes aĂ©roportuaires et en assurer le respect : permis d’exploitation de vĂ©hicules cĂ´tĂ© piste (AVOP) et dommage par corps Ă©trangers (FOD);
  • Aider les prĂ©posĂ©s Ă  l’entretien de l’aĂ©roport Ă  maintenir le niveau des stocks et Ă  recevoir Ă  l’aĂ©roport des fournitures et du matĂ©riel;
  • Assurer l’intĂ©gritĂ© opĂ©rationnelle globale de l’aĂ©roport ainsi que la propretĂ© et signaler les lacunes relevĂ©es Ă  la direction afin que des mesures correctives soient prises.

Le candidat sélectionné doit :
  • Avoir terminĂ© son secondaire 3 (9e annĂ©e);
  • Avoir un bon jugement et possĂ©der des compĂ©tences en planification et rĂ©solution de problèmes; ĂŞtre capable de travailler dans des situations stressantes (situations d’urgence dĂ©clarĂ©es);
  • ĂŠtre titulaire d’un permis de conduire provincial ou territorial valide et rĂ©ussir l’examen du permis de conduire cĂ´tĂ© piste;
  • Faire preuve d’une grande fiabilitĂ©, avoir un grand souci de la sĂ©curitĂ© et ĂŞtre capable de travailler de manière autonome;
  • PossĂ©der des compĂ©tences en communications, tant Ă  l’oral qu’à l’écrit, dans au moins deux des langues suivantes : inuktitut, anglais et français;
  • ĂŠtre titulaire d’un certificat restreint d’opĂ©rateur radio d’Industrie Canada ou l’obtenir;
  • Avoir une bonne connaissance des logiciels deMicrosoft Office :Word,Excel etOutlook;
  • ĂŠtre disponible pour suivre et rĂ©ussir une sĂ©ance de formation intensive en milieu de travail de deux Ă  trois semaines dans un aĂ©roport dĂ©signĂ© afin de recevoir la certification d’un formateur-Ă©valuateur autorisĂ©.

Être disposé à travailler selon des quarts de travail rotatifs, soit sept jours de travail consécutifs à raison de 10 heures par jour, suivi de sept jours de congé et, à l’occasion, de travailleur des heures supplémentaires pour couvrir les opérations aéroportuaires irrégulières (évacuations médicales, opérations hivernales, projets d’infrastructures et d’entrepreneurs).
