Job Responsibilities & Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
TheWelder/Fitter performs fitting, fabrication, assembly, and welding operations in a production environment. This position reads and interprets engineered drawings, layouts and fits components,preparesmaterialsforassembly,andperformsARCandMIGweldingtomanufacturequalityproducts.TheWelder/Fitterensurescomponentsareproperlyaligned,fitted,andweldedinaccordancewithengineeringspecifications,qualityrequirements,andsafetystandards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Possessalltoolsrequiredtoperformessentialdutiesandresponsibilities.
Readandinterpretengineereddrawings,blueprints,weldingsymbols,andspecifications.
Measure,mark,andverifydimensionsusingappropriatemeasuringequipment.
Performlayout,fit-up,alignment,andassemblyoffabricatedcomponents.
Setupandoperateweldingequipment,ensuringpropermachinesettingsforweldpenetrationandappearance.
Selectelectrodes,weldingwire,tips,rods,andconsumablesappropriatefortheworkbeingperformed.
Position,clamp,andtackweldpartstosecureproperalignmentbeforefinalwelding.
Turnregulatorvalvesandadjustgasmixturesandpressurestoobtaindesiredcuttingandweldingcharacteristics.
Guideelectrodesorweldinggunsalongweldlines,maintainingproperarclength,travelspeed,andweldquality.
Weldflat,cylindrical,structural,orirregularcomponentsaccordingtospecifications.
Examineweldsandassembliesforbeadsize,dimensionalaccuracy,fit,andqualityrequirements.
Repairdefectiveweldsandperformreworkasneeded.
Operategrindersandotherfabricationtoolstoprepareandfinishweldedassemblies.
Identifyandreportmaterial,drawing,fit-up,orqualitydiscrepancies.
Maintainaclean,safe,andorganizedworkarea.
Performotherdutiesasassigned.
Maintainregularattendanceandworkovertimeasrequiredtosupportproductiondemands.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:Â High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): RequiredÂ
Experience:Â One tothreeyearsofwelding,fitting,fabrication,manufacturing,orrelatedexperience,oranequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience.Experiencereadingblueprintsandperformingfit-upoffabricatedassembliesispreferred.
Computer Skills:Â Basic computer skills.
Other Requirements:Â Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Abiity to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables i situations wher eonly limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Â
