Associate Lawyer – AML & Regulatory Compliance

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary law firm providing tailored legal services across all practice areas, is currently seeking a motivated lawyer to join their Financial Crime Compliance Team, with a particular focus on AML, CFT, and sanctions advisory.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys regulatory work, practical problem-solving, and the fast-moving world of financial crime compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior partner and benefit from direct access, close supervision, and an open-door mentoring style.

This is ahybrid role offering a salary ofup to €50K.

Role & Responsibilities

• Advise clients on AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime compliance obligations

• Draft and review compliance manuals, policies, procedures, and client advice

• Support clients through FIAU/MFSA examinations, remediation exercises, and regulatory engagement

• Track Maltese and EU developments on AML/CFT, sanctions, beneficial ownership, and supervisory reporting

• Work with regulated entities, including financial institutions, investment firms, funds, compliance teams, and corporate service providers

Education, Skills & Experience

• Genuine interest in AML, CFT, sanctions, and financial crime compliance

• Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills

• Meticulous with a keen eye for detail and sound judgment

• Fluency in Maltese and English both written and spoken

• Able to work independently and within a team

• Prior exposure to AML/CFT, sanctions, regulatory compliance, financial services, or the MFSA/FIAU is a plus but not essential

• Postgraduate study, relevant certifications, or compliance experience is a plus
