Python Technical Lead

We are seeking aPython Technical Lead to shape and deliver a Modeling-as-a-Service platform that standardizes the lifecycle of financial models from development to monitoring. You will lead a team building distributed backend services and REST APIs in a restricted Azure environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of backend platform capabilities in a restricted greenfield Azure environment
• Design and implement REST APIs to deploy and query deterministic and predictive financial models
• Build backend services using Python with FastAPI and Pydantic to support model packaging and execution
• Define standards and guidelines for model packaging, MLflow integration, deployment patterns, and API design
• Leverage Azure Databricks and MLflow to enable model hosting, lifecycle management, and deployment workflows
• Drive CI/CD automation using GitLab and embed DevOps practices across the development lifecycle
• Establish best practices for code quality, testing strategy, observability, and maintainability
• Lead and mentor a team of 5+ engineers and support collaborative technical decision-making
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience leading engineering teams
• Strong Python expertise including async programming, multithreading, exception handling, and REST API development
• Hands-on FastAPI and Pydantic experience building production services
• Strong Microsoft Azure experience with Azure Databricks, Azure App Service, and IAM/RBAC
• Strong CI/CD knowledge with GitLab and modern DevOps practices
• Practical Docker and Kubernetes experience for containerized deployments
• Solid distributed systems knowledge and API design skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and system design skills
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills in technical discussions
• Agile development experience in cross-functional delivery teams
• English proficiency: B2 Upper-Intermediate (CEFR) or higher with strong spoken communication

Nice to have

• Experience with financial models, ML platforms, or model-serving solutions
• Experience designing Modeling-as-a-Service (MaaS) or similar platform architectures
• Familiarity with machine learning model deployment and monitoring approaches
• Experience delivering in enterprise environments with strict security and access-control requirements
