Are you a graphic designer who enjoys turning data, numbers and complex ideas into visuals that make information easier to understand? Do you have strong Adobe Illustrator and InDesign skills and enjoy collaborating with others to shape the right creative solution? Would you like the opportunity to bring a previously outsourced design capability in-house and help shape how it develops?

CFA Institute is hiring aGraphic Designer, Editorial to join our Learning Content and Experience team within the Education Division. You will create the illustrations and visual assets that support our curriculum products, including textbooks and online learning experiences. Alongside hands-on design, you will work closely with learning designers, subject matter experts and editorial colleagues to determine how information should be represented visually.

This is a newly created internal position, giving you the opportunity to establish strong ways of working and contribute your expertise to wider graphic design standards and projects across the department.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and revise illustrations, charts, diagrams, infographics and other visual assets for CFA Institute curriculum products across print and digital formats.

  • Translate quantitative information, including data, graphs and numerical concepts, into clear, accurate and learner-focused visuals.

  • Use Adobe Illustrator as a core authoring tool and Adobe InDesign to support layouts, templates and production requirements.

  • Collaborate with learning designers, subject matter experts, editors and other stakeholders to understand requirements, gather feedback and agree how content should be represented visually.

  • Prepare production-ready files and ensure outputs meet established specifications, templates, style guides and brand standards.

  • Carry out quality checks across typography, color, resolution and file formats, resolving routine production issues.

  • Contribute graphic design expertise beyond individual curriculum assets, including advising on design standards, fonts, templates and other departmental design needs.

  • Maintain well-organized design files, templates and asset libraries and identify opportunities to improve existing processes and documentation.

  • Apply appropriate legal and risk considerations to visual content, including responsible approaches to the use of AI.

  • Travel occasionally for important in-person divisional and departmental meetings, expected to be approximately 5% or less.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design capability; candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio as part of the recruitment process.

  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills, with the ability to create polished illustrations and visual assets.

  • Strong Adobe InDesign capability and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud tools, including Photoshop.

  • Demonstrable ability to represent quantitative information clearly and accurately through charts, graphs and other visual formats.

  • Strong graphic design fundamentals across typography, composition, color, hierarchy and iconography.

  • Understanding of print and digital production requirements, including file formats, resolution and preparation of production-ready assets.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and consistency.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to discuss creative requirements and gather input from a range of stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage your own deliverables and deadlines while working effectively within established standards and review processes.

  • Fluency in English.

  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication or a related discipline is welcomed, but equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Why Join Us

  • Bring an important graphic design capability in-house and help establish how it works within the Education Division.

  • See your work directly incorporated into CFA Institute textbooks, curriculum and online learning experiences.

  • Work across editorial, learning design and subject matter expert teams rather than operating as a standalone design resource.

  • Apply your design expertise to content where clarity and accurate representation of quantitative information really matter.

  • Contribute ideas to graphic design standards, templates and processes as the internal capability develops.

  • Join a fully remote team with colleagues located across the United States.

  • Develop your expertise within the wider Learning Content and Experience department, with the hiring manager identifying scope for growth both within the team and across the department.
