🎯 The Role

As aData Consultant / Data Engineer, you will work at the intersection ofdata engineering, business consulting, and GenAI transformation, helping design, build, and optimise data solutions that support business processes and decision-making.

You will join astrategic transformation initiative in the insurance sector, working closely with business, data, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality data pipelines and enableAI-driven use cases, including document processing and workflow automation.

📍Job location: 90% Remote (Europe-based) / 10% On-site in Cologne, Germany
🕒Contract type: Employee or Contractor
🗓Target start date: July
Working hours: Full-time (40h/week)
💵Compensation:

  • Portugal: €50,000 – €65,000

  • Spain: €55,000 – €70,000

  • Contractor option: €300 – €400/day

💥 Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintaindata pipelines and integrations across multiple systems

  • Translate business and functional requirements intotechnical data solutions

  • Work with structured and unstructured data to supportanalytics and GenAI use cases

  • Integrate data pipelines withAPIs, backend systems, and AI/LLM modules

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, Data Scientists, and engineers to ensuredata usability and alignment

  • Supportdata quality, governance, and validation processes

  • Contribute todata modelling, transformation logic, and pipeline optimisation

  • SupportAgile delivery processes, backlog refinement, and sprint execution

  • Ensure alignment betweentechnical delivery and business objectives

  • Participate inarchitecture discussions and solution design decisions

👤 What We’re Looking For

Must-haves

  • 5–8+ years of experience indata engineering, data consulting, or hybrid roles

  • Strong experience withdata pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data integration

  • Ability to translatebusiness requirements into technical data solutions

  • Experience working withPython and SQL

  • Experience withREST APIs and system integrations

  • Solid understanding ofdata modelling and data processing concepts

  • Experience working inAgile/Scrum environments

  • Strongstakeholder communication and consulting mindset

  • Experience working inenterprise or regulated environments

  • Ability to collaborate withData Science and engineering teams

  • Fluent German and English

  • Must be aPortuguese or European citizen, or hold avalid work permit for Portugal

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in theinsurance or financial services industry

  • Exposure toGenAI or AI-driven data projects

  • Experience withmodern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake)

  • Familiarity withdata governance and compliance frameworks

  • Exposure tocloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)

  • Knowledge ofreal-time data or streaming architectures

    You meet the core requirements and will need ramp-up time and support.

  • Middle of the range
    You are fully autonomous from Day 1 and deliver consistently.

    You are a reference for the role, mentor others, and raise the bar for the team.

Final offers are based onexperience, autonomy, scope, and market context, and are discussed transparently during the process.
