About the Role
As our Technical Standards Engineer, you will manage the standards, drawings, processes and technical guidance that support WELās electricity distribution network. Youāll help ensure our design and construction standards are safe, practical, consistent and aligned with asset management outcomes.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will:
Ā· Maintain and improve distribution network standards, drawings and technical documentation.
Ā· Assess and communicate standard changes that support safety, regulatory and operational requirements.
Ā· Provide technical input into new equipment, materials and technologies.
Ā· Offer practical engineering advice on non-standard designs, field queries, tenders and peer reviews.
Ā· Support quality, consistency and asset outcomes through fit-for-purpose technical guidance.
About You
Youāll bring strong technical judgement, practical distribution network knowledge and the ability to turn detailed engineering requirements into clear, usable guidance. Youāll work well with engineering, field, project and contractor teams, balancing safety, constructability, cost and operational outcomes.
Youāll bring:
Ā· Bachelor of Engineering, electrical trade, NZCE or equivalent technical qualification.
Ā· Strong distribution network design, equipment, standards and construction knowledge.
Ā· Experience developing or improving technical standards, policies or processes.
Ā· Sound understanding of health and safety, regulation, Safety in Design and risk.
Ā· Practical field insight, with asset management, engineering or equipment evaluation experience advantageous.
