Job Overview
The successful incumbent will be required independently of instructions to plan, perform all operations necessary to set-up/operate turning/non-turning machines for all purposes to which the machines are/or may be adapted judging the suitability of cutting tools, work-holders, attachments and accessories, taking necessary initial & corrective action to maintain the required degree of dimensional accuracy & surface finish of components machined.
Essential Responsibilities
Work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts & other like information, oral orders & to required tolerances
As required, perform tool proving, training functions related to all turning and/or non-turning operations
Mount, align and secure work-holders, work, tool-holder, attachments, NC/CNC tape & programs, precision measuring attachments, indicators
Check dimensions of work
Work to general plan of operation: blueprints, sketches, process sheets, operation sheets, tool lay-out chart
Skills
Completion of 4-year apprenticeship or combination of 4 years work experience or industry courses in machining (eligible for Trade Cert)
Trade Certification
4-5 years experience as a Machinist, Tool & Die maker, or machining tool operator
Work experience in Aerospace preferred
Must be able to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods and Contract Security clearances
Technical skills
Ability to work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts, and other like information
Ability to perform tool proving and training functions related to all turning and/or non-turning operations
