ROLE SUMMARY:
Medical Assistants work collaboratively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum.They also providean excellent patient experience, high quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in daily huddles with patient care team(s)
Prepare patient charts forproviders
Review patient registries andidentify preventative care due forpatient
Assist in preventive care outreachinitiatives
Obtainvitals
Assist in obtaining medicalrecords
Perform screening procedures asindicated
Prepare patients for exams andassist providers duringexams
Prepare sterilefields
Perform phlebotomyand processspecimens
Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular and intradermal injections as directed byprovider
Serve as a preceptor fornewstaff
Provide occasional coverage support for other MAHEC ambulatoryoffices
Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handlingcalls
Participates in process improvement of new and existingworkflows
Actively embraces and supports divisional and organizational qualityinitiatives
Supports pop-up vaccine and testing communityevents

SPECIFIED SKILLS
COMPUTER
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applicationsrequired.
Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Spanish speaking skills preferred (eligible for compensationn add on).
SKILLS
Phlebotomy experience for patients of all ages.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)
Frequent (34 - 66% of Workday)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree
1 – 2 years of medical assisting experience in a primary care ambulatory setting
Certification as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT
Experience as a EMT or CNA
Experience working in an Employee Health Record (EHR)
REQUIRED LICENSES:
Current CPR certification
SCHEDULE:
- Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division);40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionallyrequired.Work hours will need to be flexiblein order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
COMPENSATION
- CNAs and non-certified Medical Assistants: $20.63/hour + MAHEC Total Rewards package
- CMAs and CCMAs: $22.79/hour + MAHEC Total Rewards package
