Primary Purpose of Role

This is a role for an engineer who wants real influence. As a Senior Software Engineer at CloudMargin, you'll work across teams to solve our hardest problems, shape key architecture decisions, mentor the next generation of engineers, and lead how we adopt AI-assisted and agentic development across the whole engineering organisation.

Core Accountabilities

• Deliver complex features across teams, contributing to key architecture and design decisions
• Design for performance, scalability, security and testability - reducing complexity rather than adding it
• Mentor engineers and set the standard for engineering excellence across the team
• Set the team's standards for safe, effective use of AI-assisted and agentic tooling - evaluating new tools and driving adoption of what works
• Take operational responsibility for what you ship, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at every level

Experience

• 5+ years (or equivalent) of software development experience
• 2+ years with React (or a similar frontend framework) and 2+ years with NodeJS
• Deep, practical knowledge of TypeScript, microservice architecture and AWS (we run Fargate, moving to Lambda, API Gateway and SQS)
• A track record of mentoring, raising engineering standards and pragmatic technical decision-making

Hands-on fluency with AI-assisted development tools and clear-eyed judgement about their strengths and limits. If you've built and led at scale in a different but comparable stack, we're open - depth of judgement matters more to us than exact tool history.

Skills 

Our engineers work in self-organised Scrum teams building new features and products on a modern stack: TypeScript, NodeJS and React, microservices on AWS (Fargate today, moving to Lambda, API Gateway and SQS), with TDD and full CI/CD. AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) is a growing part of how we build - we invest in using it well, and every engineer owns and reviews what ships.
