Primary Purpose of Role

Start your engineering career with real mentorship, not a ticket queue. As a Junior Software Engineer at CloudMargin, you'll join a small, supportive Scrum team, pair with experienced engineers daily, and ship production code for a platform used by major financial institutions.

 
Core Accountabilities

•    Build and ship features as part of a self-organised Scrum team, with support from teammates and your mentor
•    Write clean, testable, well-documented code - and learn what 'good' looks like through daily pair programming
•    Investigate and fix bugs, and take part in code reviews to sharpen your judgement
•    Learn to use AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) under guidance, building the judgement to know when to trust their output and when to verify it
•    Share regular progress updates with your team and stakeholders

Experience

• Some hands-on development experience - internships, bootcamp, degree projects or personal projects all count
• Exposure to JavaScript, and curiosity about both backend and frontend work
• An interest in learning our stack: TypeScript, NodeJS, React, AWS and test-driven development
• Strong communication and a genuine appetite to learn and improve

Skills 

Our engineers work in self-organised Scrum teams building new features and products on a modern stack: TypeScript, NodeJS and React, microservices on AWS (Fargate today, moving to Lambda, API Gateway and SQS), with TDD and full CI/CD. AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) is a growing part of how we build - we invest in using it well, and every engineer owns and reviews what ships.
