About the role:

This permanent full-time role is based at the Kurmuk Gold Project in the Benishangul-Gumuz region of western Ethiopia

The Maintenance Engineer, with support from the rest of the team, will be providing hands-on technical support service and maintenance to ensure the smooth running of Chrysos PhotonAssay™ systems. 

What you will do:

• Providing on site and remote technical support, escalating to Chrysos teams and technology partners to promptly resolve faults and maximise PhotonAssay™ uptime/availability.
• Conducting safety risk assessments (JHAs, Take 5s) before commencing work.
• Training of the customer on the safe operation and maintenance of the equipment.
• Spares inventory management for the site.
• Completing preventive maintenance and reporting to customers.
• Assisting in the development and continual improvement of the processes associated with the maintenance and service of PhotonAssay™
• Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new installations.
• Ensuring complete and accurate fault records for statistics and reporting.
• Assisting with Root Cause Analysis of faults (to improve reliability) and safety (to prevent incidents that could lead to injury or damage).
• Performing ongoing radiation safety and compliance duties.
• Any other duties as reasonably agreed. 

Who you are:

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in engineering (electrical, electronic, mechanical or mechatronic) or a closely related technical discipline
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining complex technical equipment
• Strong customer service mindset and problem-solving skills
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills
• Able and willing to travel both locally and internationally, including to remote locations such as mine sites
• Willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks, including those both ‘above’ and ‘below’ the designated role
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Current Driver’s Licence

• Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and web apps

Desirable

• Familiarity with the mining industry and mine-site operations
• Demonstrated experience in fault finding in electro-mechanical equipment
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical wiring and safety, power distribution, mechanical maintenance, and repairs; basic electronics; metalworking; engineering drawing and design
• Hands-on experience with maintaining
