About Central Kids:âŻCentral Kids is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing early childhood education services for 70 years. We enrich the lives of over 2,500 tamariki each year and our values are at the core of everything we do.Â
The Role:âŻOur team of Property Maintenance Officers are responsible for undertaking planned and reactive repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment across our property portfolio, whilst also coordinating with external contractors. You will build strong relationships with Central Kids Regional Managers, Head Teachers, contractors, local councils, and service providers to ensure effective communication. This role involves a high level of vehicle travel across the central North Island within 47 kindergartens and 3 office sites, across 26 geographical locations throughout the Central North Island.Â
What you will bring:Â
- Five years' demonstrated practical building or maintenance experience, preferably a qualified carpenter or builder
- A good understanding of compliance including health and safety, building code, and regulations.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Competent digital skills: Microsoft suite and our maintenance management software.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and Te Ao MÄori, Te Reo MÄori, MÄtauranga MÄori, and a willingness to grow in this area.
- Legal entitlement to work in Aotearoa New Zealand, no criminal convictions, clean driver's licence, and compliance with the Vulnerable Childrenâs Act.
Location and Hours:Â
- Location: Rotorua
- Hours: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required, as some maintenance activities may need to be completed outside kindergarten operating hours. Additional time worked is recognised through time in lieu or adjusted working hours by agreement.
