Job Title: Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile Driver

Department: Health and Wellness

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

This is a part-time position where the driver will be driving the Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile to the various sites, unloading and loading, and assisting in setting up and tearing down the health fair equipment. Schedule is flexible, generally 2-3 days per week. This individual will be representing Hy-Vee to those inside the organization, to customers, and to the general public.

Reporting Relations

Accountable and Reports to: Healthy You Mobile Coordinator

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be able to maintain physical requirements of the job as dictated by federal driving guidelines
• Responsible for operating the Healthy You Mobile and equipment in a safe and professional manner to scheduled destinations. Meets scheduled times of bus to assigned locations
• Performs all customer service duties at scheduled locations including unloading, and other duties deemed necessary by supervisory personnel
• Required to fuel and hook equipment; conduct pre and post-trip inspections; monitor equipment functions and report defects to truck shop personnel
• Responsible for all paperwork including but not limited to: daily logbook and pre and post-trip inspection sheets
• Assumes all driver responsibilities as specified in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Handbook Rules and Regulations
• Maintain an exceptional level of customer service with all relationships and interactions
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning of bus when needed
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 21 years of age and have at least one year over-the-road driving experience.
• Class D-2 Iowa Chauffer’s license is required or equivalent license required in your state to operate the vehicle.

Physical Requirements

• Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
• Ability to drive a dually truck and/or ¾ ton truck while pulling a small trailer   
• Must train with a professional driver and will need to complete and pass a driving test, along with 6 month probation period.
• Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of 20-70 pounds and 10-25 pounds frequently. Can be long periods of standing or walking.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Drug screen required.
• Possess and maintain an incident free driving record.

Supervisory Responsibility

None.

Working Conditions

Some overnight stay is required, as well as interstate driving. The duties of this position are performed in retail and outdoor settings. There is exposure to noise, dust, dirt and equipment including batteries. There is exposure to temperature extremes including all weather conditions.
