DIRECTOR OF KINDY - Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island Kindy is a small, close-knit early learning centre at the heart of our island community. With around 15 children across combined age groups, our educators know our children and families personally, creating a warm environment where everyone has a genuine sense of belonging.

We're looking for an experiencedDirector of Kindy who loves being just as involved on the floor as they are leading the centre. You'll lead a close team of five Childcare Assistants and one Teacher, while working hands-on alongside them - stepping into rooms, supporting leave coverage and helping wherever the team and children need you most.

What you'll be doing

This isn't a Director role where you'll spend every day behind a desk. You'll lead the centre while remaining an active part of daily life at Kindy - supporting your educators on the floor, stepping into our toddler and older children's groups, and providing coverage across the centre when required.

You'll oversee the educational program, compliance, staffing, enrolments, budgeting and continuous improvement, while fulfilling the responsibilities of Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader. You'll mentor your team, guide curriculum and reflective practice, and build genuine relationships with our children and their families.

With a small team and around 15 children, we're looking for someone who enjoys being involved, understands what their educators need and is happy to roll up their sleeves and help.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher, or another relevant qualification of at least 3 years in early childhood or childcare studies
• Minimum 7 years' practical experience in early childhood
• Leadership or management experience within a kindergarten, childcare or school setting
• A genuinely hands-on leadership style and willingness to work alongside your educators
• Strong knowledge of EYLF, QKLG, NQF, National Quality Standards and regulatory requirements
• Current QLD Working with Children Check - Blue Card and required Child Protection Training (Essential)
• Current HLTAID012 First Aid, HLTAID009 CPR (Essential)
• GECCKO and Red Nose Safe Sleep Training (Essential)
