qualia is seeking an experienced and service-focusedCoxswain to deliver exceptional marine experiences for guests of Hamilton Island’s world-renowned luxury resort. From private vessel charters and personalised transfers to day trips and sunset cruises through the spectacular Whitsundays, you'll combine expert vessel handling with the intuitive and personalised service synonymous with qualia.

Your Role

As a Coxswain supporting qualia, you'll operate Hamilton Island vessels to deliver safe, personalised and memorable experiences for our guests. You'll conduct private charters, transfers, guided experiences and guest drop-offs throughout Hamilton Island and the surrounding Whitsundays, tailoring your service to individual guest preferences while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

You'll also support broader marine operations when required, including vessel preparation, maintenance, detailing and operational duties.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Operate vessels for private qualia guest charters and experiences
• Deliver personalised day trips, sunset cruises and marine transfers
• Provide knowledgeable guidance throughout the Whitsunday waterways
• Tailor marine experiences to individual guest needs and preferences
• Conduct professional safety briefings before every departure
• Ensure guest safety, comfort and enjoyment throughout each experience
• Complete vessel setup, pre-start and pre-departure safety checks
• Assist guests with boarding and disembarking safely and professionally
• Clean, detail and prepare vessels to qualia presentation standards
• Follow vessel Safety Management Systems and operational procedures
• Maintain accurate operational, maintenance and safety records
• Communicate closely with qualia Front Office and Activities teams
• Support Marina and broader Marine Operations when required
• Maintain compliance with WHS, NSCV and relevant maritime requirements

You are an experienced marine professional who combines confident vessel handling with exceptional guest service. You understand that luxury service is about anticipating individual needs, adapting the experience and creating genuine connections. With extensive knowledge of marine environments and a strong safety focus, you'll help create unforgettable Whitsunday experiences for qualia guests.

To be successful, you will need:

• Coxswain Grade 1 NC (Essential)
• Driver Licence with the ability to drive on Queensland roads (Essential)
• Provide First Aid qualification (Essential)
• Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation qualification (Essential)
• Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy qualification (Essential)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (Essential)
• Strong vessel handling and marine safety knowledge
• Exceptional communication and personalised customer service skills
• Professional presentation and attention to detail
• Confidence engaging with guests in a premium hospitality environment
• Strong knowledge of marine safety and operational procedures
• Marine Radio Operator qualification (Desirable)
• Previous marine tourism or charter experience (Desirable)
• Previous vessel repair and maintenance experience (Desirable)
