Process Engineer I/II 

OVERVIEW 

Marathon Petroleum Company’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking aProcess EngineerI/II.The Process Engineer will report to the Process Engineering Manager, and monitors process performance andidentifies opportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability as well asassisting in planning test runs and developing projects to address opportunities. 

Relocation isapproved for this position.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Monitors process performance andidentifiesopportunities for improving yield, energy efficiency, and reliability.Assists in planning test runs anddevelops projects to address opportunities.  

• Supports collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges. Develops relationships with console and field operators. 

• Participates in hazard evaluations, incident investigations, and management of change.  

• Participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).  

• Supports turnaround/outage execution. May review turnaround planning, including scope development and post-event evaluations 

• Maintains and updates process documentation.  

• Troubleshoots andmaintains unit mass balance within tolerance.  

• Participates in technology advisory groups. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Minimum (Required) Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering 

• Valid driver’s license  

• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future 

• Must be able to wearappropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field 

• Able to support internal equipment inspections – confined spaces and elevated work 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Two (2) years or more of experience in processengineering within refining, petrochemical, or related industries 

SKILLS 

• Excel 

• Microsoft Office applications, process simulation and equipment modeling, thermodynamics and reaction engineering, P&ID and PFD interpretation, cross-functional collaboration,problem-solving and troubleshooting

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS 

Options: 

1. 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻-𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲: 5 days in the office per week, 8 hours per day. 
2. 𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱: 4 days in the office, 1 day work-from-home per week, 8 hours per day. 
3. 𝟵/𝟴𝟬 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲: 9 hours Monday-Thursday in the office, with every other Friday off. On working Fridays, the schedule is 8 hours. 

Additional hours as needed for turnaround and outage support.
