About the role: 

*Context Diageo Business Service’s Enterprise Operations (DBS EO) aim to leverage Diageo’s Operating Model by supporting standard processes, organisation and systems with effective and efficient shared services across Diageo, provided by a trusted outsourced partner and by internal services. The EO Model is based around 5 global locations, Budapest, Bogota, Nairobi, Manila and Bangalore. Each of these centres has OTC Service Delivery team focused on delivering the OTC Service to specific countries. The Governance organisation, based in the Budapest centre, are the Process Owners for OTC across Diageo (EO and non-EO serviced SAP Markets). They are accountable for the design of the process, and must ensure the OTC process is efficient, effective and compliant at all times. The Governance of the End to End process is split across three internal Teams with the Tower. – A Control Team, who are account for the design and monitoring of the control, holding Service Delivery teams to account for execution. It is the responsibility to ensure there is an appropriate Controls Culture through the Tower. Reports to the Tower Head – A Core Governance Team, a team of experts who provide market insight, root cause analysis, process improvement and audits, supporting the future design of the E2E Commercial Service Lines. As the Diageo Process Owner, this team owns the metrics that govern the process globally. Reports to the Tower head – An Integration Team, the first point of contact for all process & integration changes. This team also contains the BA Pool of rechargeable project resources. Report to the Sell to Cash Service Delivery Director. This role heads up the Controls Team Dimensions of the role Financial Accountable for the controls design across all E2EC processes, global and Local. Owns the Towers Risk Register. Market Complexity This is a Global role which involves supporting markets across all regions. Must understand local Market requirements and blend these with the Global standard. Key Relationships • GAR, CARM and GRC. , • Close working relationship with Core Governance Team SMEs ,the Standardisation Manager and the Integration Manager. • Local Control Owners. Leadership responsibilities Controls Mind Set – Must have a deep understand of risk identification and mitigation within the Businesses supported by the E2EC processes set. Commercial Insight - sound analytical decision-making and emerging intuition for what is commercially right. Ensure we have cost effective, viable solutions which fits both the Market and Global agenda. Bring the Diageo purpose to life – As Control ambassador with the Tower, must foster a controls culture through the Tower and ensure this is extended into Market that have local processes variants. Consistently deliver great performance – Move effectively between the strategic and operational detail. Stay focused on the priorities and demonstrate rigor and brilliant execution Grow yourself – Demonstrate self-awareness and commit to growing your own capabilities Stakeholder Management – Builds alliances with key senior parties to gain their confidence and support People Management – Has excellent relationship building skills and ability to lead from within a team, as well as leading own Team. Purpose of Role Control Guardian of the Tower, ensuring E2EC has a fit for purpose control set in place and there is an appropriate Control Culture through the Tower. Find pragmatic solutions to mitigate risk. Constantly challenge our thinking and ways of working to reduce the size of the control set and the supporting effort. Support all Audit activities, internal and external. Ensure the Towers change controls are fit for purpose and are being adhered to (Change notes, Task split, SOA) Top Accountabilities 1. Accountable for the design of all controls within E2EC, ensuring they are fit for purpose, as efficient and effective as possible, documented and embedded. 2. Must Maintain the E2EC Risk Register, and ensure all actions have clear owners, are being followed up and closed in a timely fashion. 3. Provide the Tower LT with a quarterly Controls update. 4. Develop and maintain a Control Dashboard that provides an “at a glance “control health check, that can be used by managers at all levels of the organisation. 5. Constantly strive to identify and implement ways to reduce the cost of controls with the Tower. Qualifications and experience required • 10+ years senior management experience in Controls management / audit role. • Finance/Accounting/Commercial graduate or MBA • Track record of risk identification and mitigation of commercial processes with a global CPG environment. • Ability to bring a controls agenda to life in a pragmatic way in a commercial environment. • Strong business partnering skills with desire to make a difference beyond their own team, E2EC, EO and DBS • Proven ability to align multiple stakeholders and engage the organisation effectively • Can Balance Global vs Local commercial needs to ensure a good level of pragmatism in all day to day interactions but can also draw a line in the sand when appropriate. • Ability to drive performance through others, supporting colleagues in pursuit of the team goal and ensuring focus on deliverables Barriers to success in role • Lack of relevant experience e.g. in-depth control design track record. • Inability to build and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders • Poor communication skills • Unable to manage multiple concurrent activities and deadlines • Low resilience and inability to operate successfully in a fast moving and often pressurised environment • Lack of insight and commercial instinct • Inability to strike the right balance to align global and local requirements • Dislike or discomfort with detail • Need for heavy level of direction
